Use SEOmatic in Manus
Updated
Before you start
A Manus account that can add custom MCP connectors, and a free SEOmatic account, which you can create during sign-in.
Connect Manus#
- Open Custom MCP Servers. In Manus, open Settings, then Integrations, then Custom MCP Servers. On older builds the same screen sits under Settings, Connectors, in the Custom MCP tab.
- Add a custom MCP. Choose Add Server (on older builds: Add custom MCP, then direct configuration). Name it SEOmatic, keep the HTTP transport if asked, and use the server URL https://app.seomatic.ai/api/mcp. Save.
- Log in on the first tool call. Start a task such as “Use SEOmatic to audit my site.” Manus pauses and asks you to log in. Sign in or create a free SEOmatic account and pick your site.
- Connect Search Console. If your workspace has no Search Console yet, SEOmatic hands you a one-click connect link, so answers come from your own numbers.
- Schedule the weekly brief. Turn the brief task into a Manus Scheduled Task for Monday morning.
Manus setup
Manus: Settings > Integrations > Custom MCP Servers > Add Server # (older builds: Settings > Connectors > Custom MCP > Add custom MCP) Name: SEOmatic Transport: HTTP Server URL: https://app.seomatic.ai/api/mcp Sign-in: OAuth (Manus asks you to log in on the first tool call) # API key instead of OAuth: add a request header Authorization: Bearer smk_live_...
Note
Using an API key? Put it in the connector's request header, never in a task message. Create keys in SEOmatic under Settings, AI Agents, API Keys.
OAuth, an API Key or a Skill?
| Route | Best for | How |
|---|---|---|
| Custom MCP with OAuth | Most people. No key to copy | Settings, Integrations, Custom MCP Servers, Add Server (older builds: Connectors, Custom MCP). URL https://app.seomatic.ai/api/mcp, HTTP. Log in on the first tool call. |
| Custom MCP with an API key | Shared Manus accounts, or when the OAuth window will not open | Same server, plus the request header Authorization: Bearer smk_live_... with a key from SEOmatic's Settings, AI Agents, API Keys. |
| Connector plus a Manus skill | Teams who want Manus to follow the same SEO playbook | Add the connector, then upload the SEOmatic skill files from github.com/Minh42/seomatic-mcp as Manus Skills, like weekly-brief and seo-audit. |
Pick the custom MCP with OAuth. It takes about a minute, no key is stored in Manus, and every task and Scheduled Task can use SEOmatic from then on.
Try Asking#
- “Use SEOmatic to compare my site's last 28 days on Google with the 28 days before, and write it up as a one-page report.”
- “Pick five blog topics I can rank for, based on queries I already get impressions for.”
- “Compare my site with these two competitors and tell me where they beat me.”
- “How do ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews describe my business today?”
- “Build an aggressive but realistic 30-day SEO plan from my data.”
- “Audit my site before next week's relaunch and list what must not break.”
What It Costs#
Connecting is free. Reading your own data never uses credits: Search Console performance and insights, index status, rankings, site audits, AI citations, traffic and your tasks. Only live market lookups (keyword metrics, search results, backlinks), AI visibility scans and the fixes you approve use AI credits; every tool is labelled free or billed. On the Free plan, market lookups count against 5 free questions a month. The workspace Owner sees every credit spent, by feature, in Settings > Usage. Manus itself is billed by its maker, not by SEOmatic: nothing on our side counts tokens.
Nothing Changes on Your Site Without Your Approval#
Manus can stage work in SEOmatic, never publish it on its own say-so. A staged change is a proposal: it says what will change and why, and nothing touches your site until you approve it. The assistant records your decision, and it is told never to approve anything on its own judgment. Approved fixes start within seconds, the page's previous state is stored, and any applied change can be rolled back. Changes that could take a page out of Google, like a noindex, need an extra explicit confirmation. Scheduled Tasks follow the same rule: a scheduled task can report and propose, and the approval is always yours.
- Manus says SEOmatic is connected but answers without my data.
- Start a new chat and check that SEOmatic is enabled for that conversation in the tools menu. This is the step most people miss.
- The SEOmatic page says "This connection request expired".
- Start the connection again from Manus, or paste the setup prompt again.
- The Authorize page shows the wrong email or no workspace.
- Click Switch account on that page and sign in with the SEOmatic account that owns the site.
- Why does Manus say it cannot change my site?
- Fixes need a live paid plan or trial. On the Free plan, or when billing is paused or failed, your assistant can read and answer only.
- How do I disconnect?
- Open Settings > AI Agents, scroll to API Keys and delete the row named OAuth: Manus. See disconnect an assistant.
