Agents read your Search Console data, do the work, and prove what actually moved. You decide what ships.

OpenClaw already lives in your Telegram, WhatsApp or Slack. Give it the SEOmatic skill and it can read your Google Search Console, audit your pages and check where AI answers mention you, without a Google Cloud project or a service account. On paid plans it stages fixes, and you approve them before anything goes live.

SEOmatic is an SEO agent with a hosted MCP server and a command-line tool. OpenClaw uses it through the SEOmatic skill, which runs the CLI, or as a remote MCP server. Either way, OpenClaw works on one SEOmatic workspace with your real Search Console data.
October 2026
A running OpenClaw gateway with Node.js available, and a free SEOmatic account with an API key from Settings, AI Agents, API Keys.
Free to connect, with 5 questions a month from your own data (plus 10 once you connect Search Console). Paid plans add agents that stage fixes for your approval. See pricing.
Endpoint, auth, every tool and what it costs: SEOmatic MCP server docs.
Last week against the week before, sent to your Telegram or WhatsApp, with the two or three pages that moved and why.
After a redesign, a migration or a new sitemap, OpenClaw checks each day whether Google still indexes your key pages.
“How many clicks did /water-heater-repair get this month?” answered in one message, with the date range it covers.
Queries where you sit on page 2 or low on page 1, with the page that ranks and what is missing from it.
Whether AI assistants name you for the questions your customers ask, and which competitors they name instead.
On paid plans, OpenClaw stages titles, descriptions and technical fixes, then sends you the SEOmatic link to approve them.
OpenClaw is the agent you text. That changes what SEO help looks like: short questions from your phone, checks that run on a timer, and a reply only when something needs you.
An example on the Acme Plumbing demo site. You ask OpenClaw:
“Did anything break on Google this week?”
OpenClaw calls SEOmatic:
seomatic tools call gsc_performance: Oct 3 to Oct 9 vs Sep 26 to Oct 2 (7 days each)seomatic tools call gsc_indexing: /emergency-plumberOpenClaw answers:
One thing broke. Site-wide clicks held steady (412 vs 425, Oct 3 to Oct 9 against the 7 days before), but /emergency-plumber fell from 96 clicks to 31.
Google reports the page as crawled, currently not indexed, and its canonical tag points to the homepage. That started after your Oct 4 theme update.
/water-heater-repair and /drain-cleaning-cost look normal.
Want me to stage a fix for the canonical tag? It waits in SEOmatic until you approve it.
Also try:
The usual way to give OpenClaw your Search Console data is a do-it-yourself chain: create a Google Cloud project, enable the Search Console API, make a service account, download its JSON key, add the service account as a user on your property, then find or build an MCP server that reads it. That is an afternoon, and the agent still only sees raw rows.
With SEOmatic, you connect Google Search Console once in the SEOmatic dashboard with a normal Google sign-in. OpenClaw then talks to SEOmatic with one API key. You also get what raw rows do not give you: period comparisons, striking-distance keywords, cannibalization checks, indexing reasons, site audits and AI visibility, in one place.
OpenClaw can run jobs on a schedule. A routine that works well:
Tell OpenClaw exactly that in plain words, and add: “Ask me before you stage anything.”
Send any of these to OpenClaw once the skill is installed:
Through the skill, OpenClaw runs npx -y seomatic commands. Through the MCP route, it calls the same tools by name. Either way it gets:
The full list is in the SEOmatic CLI docs and the MCP server reference.
Run these on the machine where your OpenClaw gateway runs. It takes about two minutes, and there is no Google Cloud setup.
# 1. Install the SEOmatic skill on the gateway machine
npx skills add Minh42/seomatic-mcp -a openclaw
# 2. ~/.openclaw/openclaw.json: give the skill your API key
{
"skills": {
"entries": {
"seomatic": { "apiKey": "smk_live_..." }
}
}
}
# 3. Restart and check
openclaw gateway restart
openclaw skills list --eligible
# Prefer the MCP server? Add this to openclaw.json instead:
{
"mcp": {
"servers": {
"seomatic": {
"url": "https://app.seomatic.ai/api/mcp",
"transport": "streamable-http",
"headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer smk_live_..." }
}
}
}
}Troubleshooting: if openclaw skills list --eligible does not show seomatic, the key is missing; check skills.entries.seomatic.apiKey and restart. OpenClaw's own OAuth sign-in for MCP servers has an open upstream bug (OpenClaw issue 91433) that can leave the login unfinished, which is why this page uses an API key. Keys stay in your config file, so never paste one into a chat.
| Route | Best for | How |
|---|---|---|
| SEOmatic skill | Most OpenClaw setups, on a laptop, a home server or a VPS | npx skills add Minh42/seomatic-mcp -a openclaw (or install SEOmatic from ClawHub: clawhub install @Minh42/seomatic). Put your key under skills.entries.seomatic.apiKey in ~/.openclaw/openclaw.json. The skill runs the seomatic CLI. |
| MCP server with an API key | Gateways that already use other MCP servers and want SEOmatic's tools listed natively | Add mcp.servers.seomatic to ~/.openclaw/openclaw.json with the URL https://app.seomatic.ai/api/mcp and the header Authorization: "Bearer smk_live_...", then openclaw gateway restart. |
| MCP server with OAuth | Not recommended for now | openclaw mcp add seomatic --url https://app.seomatic.ai/api/mcp --transport streamable-http --auth oauth, then openclaw mcp login seomatic. An open OpenClaw bug (issue 91433) can stop the sign-in from finishing. |
Pick the skill. It is one command, it works on a headless server, and it reaches the same SEOmatic workspace as the MCP routes. Use the API-key MCP route if you prefer every tool listed in OpenClaw's MCP panel.
OpenClaw reads Google Search Console through SEOmatic, and the fixes you approve go live in your CMS. Pick your platform for the exact steps:
This page is about OpenClaw, the open-source personal agent with a gateway on your own machine or server and chat channels like Telegram, WhatsApp, Slack and Discord.
All three reach the same SEOmatic workspace, so your free questions and your approvals are shared between them.
Connecting is free, and so is the SEOmatic account behind it: no card. A free account answers 5 questions a month from your own data, plus 10 bonus questions once you connect Google Search Console. Each tool call counts as one question, so a big request can use a few.
Free covers the diagnosis: Search Console reports and insights, site audits of up to 30 pages, live page analysis, and your AI visibility results. Live market data, like keyword volumes, backlink profiles and competitor domains, is part of paid plans, with one free keyword preview per workspace.
Paid plans remove the question limit and add the treatment: agents stage fixes on your site (titles, descriptions, content updates, technical fixes, internal links) and run campaigns and fresh AI visibility scans. Every paid plan starts with a 14-day free trial. See pricing.
A scheduled OpenClaw check uses questions too: a Monday brief is usually two or three tool calls. The free allowance covers an occasional check; a weekly or daily routine needs a paid plan.
OpenClaw is always on and can act from a chat message, so the line is clear: it can stage work in SEOmatic, and only you can approve it. A staged change is a proposal: it says what will change and why, and nothing touches your site until you approve it. The assistant records your decision, and it is told never to approve anything on its own judgment. Approved fixes start within seconds, the page's previous state is stored, and any applied change can be rolled back. Changes that could take a page out of Google, like a noindex, need an extra explicit confirmation. Approval happens in SEOmatic, not in Telegram or WhatsApp, so a forwarded message or a prompt hidden in a web page cannot approve a change for you. Your API key can be revoked in SEOmatic at any time.

How do I connect SEOmatic to OpenClaw?
On the machine that runs your OpenClaw gateway, run npx skills add Minh42/seomatic-mcp -a openclaw. Create an API key in SEOmatic under Settings, AI Agents, API Keys, put it in ~/.openclaw/openclaw.json under skills.entries.seomatic.apiKey, and run openclaw gateway restart. Then message OpenClaw a question about your site.
Do I need a Google Cloud service account for OpenClaw SEO?
No. You connect Google Search Console to SEOmatic once with a normal Google sign-in. OpenClaw then reads your data through SEOmatic with one API key. There is no Cloud project, no service account and no JSON key file.
Should I use the skill or the MCP server?
Use the skill for most setups. It is one command and works on a headless server. Use the MCP server with an API key if your gateway already runs other MCP servers and you want SEOmatic's tools listed there. Both reach the same workspace and the same tools.
Why not use OpenClaw's OAuth sign-in for MCP?
OpenClaw has an open bug in its MCP OAuth flow (issue 91433) that can stop the sign-in from finishing. An API key avoids it and works the same way, through the skill or through the MCP config with an Authorization header.
Can OpenClaw message me about SEO on a schedule?
Yes. OpenClaw runs scheduled jobs, so you can ask it to send a Search Console brief every Monday or check your key pages each morning, and to message you only when something changed. Each check uses a few tool calls, so frequent checks need a paid plan.
Are the numbers real or made up?
Real. Every number comes from your own Google Search Console through SEOmatic, and answers state the exact date range, for example Oct 3 to Oct 9, 7 days. The skill tells OpenClaw never to fill gaps with guesses.
Is SEOmatic for OpenClaw free?
Yes. The skill and the SEOmatic account are free, with no card. A free account answers 5 questions a month from your own data, plus 10 bonus questions once you connect Search Console. Paid plans remove the limit and add agents that stage fixes, with a 14-day free trial.
Can it change my site without asking?
No. By default every change SEOmatic proposes waits for your approval before it touches your site, and your assistant is told never to approve on its own. Approved changes are stored with the page's previous state, so any edit to an existing page can be rolled back. If you later want low-risk fixes to go ahead on their own, you can turn that on in your autonomy settings; changes to your URLs or indexing, and new content, still wait for you.
Can OpenClaw approve a fix from Telegram?
No. OpenClaw can stage a fix and send you the link, but approval happens in SEOmatic by you. That keeps a forwarded message or a hidden instruction on a web page from pushing a change live.
Does an approved fix actually go live on my site?
Yes. Once you approve, SEOmatic applies the change through your connected CMS, such as WordPress, Shopify, Webflow or Wix, stores the page's previous state, and lets you roll it back.
Is OpenClaw the same as nanoclaw?
No. They are separate open-source projects. nanoclaw is a smaller agent built on the Claude Agent SDK that runs each group in its own container. SEOmatic works with both, with different setup steps.
Same server, same tools, same approval rules. Pick the agent that fits the job.
