Agents read your Search Console data, do the work, and prove what actually moved. You decide what ships.

Perplexity Computer is good at long jobs: it splits a goal into steps and works through them. Add SEOmatic as a connector and those steps run on your real Google Search Console data, your site audit and your AI visibility. On paid plans, the fixes it finds wait in SEOmatic for your approval.

SEOmatic is a hosted MCP server that Perplexity adds as a custom remote connector over Streamable HTTP. Once added, every Computer task can call SEOmatic's SEO tools on your workspace, with OAuth sign-in or an API key.
November 2026
A Perplexity Pro or Max plan, which includes Computer, and a free SEOmatic account. On an organization plan, an admin must turn on Allow members to add custom connectors first; it is off by default.
Free to connect. Search Console, audits and page checks have no limit; market data uses 5 free questions a month (plus a one-time 10 when you connect Search Console). Paid plans add agents that stage fixes for your approval. See pricing.
Endpoint, auth, every tool and what it costs: SEOmatic MCP server docs.
A week-by-week plan built from 90 days of your Search Console data and a site audit, saved as a doc.
A Scheduled Task that runs every Monday: what moved last week, what dropped, and the one thing to do next.
Which pages and queries lost clicks, whether it is seasonal, and what changed on the pages or in the results.
Your queries and pages next to two competitors, with live market data on paid plans and web research from Computer.
Where AI engines like ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Overviews mention you (and Perplexity, if you track it), and which sources they cite instead.
On paid plans, Computer stages the fixes it finds in SEOmatic. You approve each one before it touches your site.
Perplexity Computer is the pick for SEO work that spans many steps: pull the data, audit the site, research competitors on the web, write it up. SEOmatic makes the first two steps run on your real numbers instead of guesses.
An example on the Acme Plumbing demo site. You ask Perplexity Computer:
“Build me a 30-day SEO plan from my Search Console data.”
Perplexity Computer calls SEOmatic:
gsc_performance: Jul 13 to Oct 10 (90 days), by page and querygsc_insights: striking distance, cannibalization, CTR outlierssite_pages: audit of 30 pagesPerplexity Computer answers:
Plan built from Jul 13 to Oct 10 (90 days) of your Search Console data and a 30-page audit:
I saved the plan as a doc. Want me to stage the week 1 title? It waits for your approval in SEOmatic.
Also try:
Perplexity is already strong at research on the open web. What it cannot see is your own site's data. SEOmatic fills that gap. A routine that works:
Give Perplexity Computer any of these once the SEOmatic connector is added:
Perplexity Computer reaches SEOmatic's tools through the connector, which is an MCP server. The ones you will use most:
Each tool says whether it is free or uses AI credits before Perplexity Computer calls it, and key tools show interactive cards in the chat: connect buttons, scan progress and approval buttons. The full list, with every parameter, is in the SEO MCP server reference.
One custom connector on Perplexity's Plugins page. It takes about a minute, and every Computer task can use it afterwards.
# Perplexity -> Plugins (sidebar) -> Add custom -> Add MCP connector -> Remote
# (older UI: Customize -> Connectors)
Name: SEOmatic
MCP server URL: https://app.seomatic.ai/api/mcp
# Advanced:
Authentication: OAuth
Transport: Streamable HTTP
# Tick the acknowledgement, select Add, then select the SEOmatic card
# to sign in to SEOmatic and enable it.
# Fallback: Authentication = API Key, with an SEOmatic key (smk_live_...)
# Weekly brief: ask Computer "every Monday at 9am ..." and confirm;
# it shows on the Automations dashboard (perplexity.ai/computer/automations)If the OAuth sign-in is blocked for your account, use the same steps with Authentication set to API Key and a key from SEOmatic's Settings, AI Agents, API Keys. Do not paste the key into a chat or task.
| Route | Best for | How |
|---|---|---|
| Custom connector (OAuth) | Most people. Works in every Computer task and in Perplexity chats | Plugins, Add custom, Add MCP connector, Remote. URL https://app.seomatic.ai/api/mcp; under Advanced, OAuth and Streamable HTTP. Select Add, then the SEOmatic card to sign in. |
| Custom connector (API key) | When the OAuth sign-in is blocked for your account | Same steps, with Authentication under Advanced set to API Key and a key from Settings, AI Agents, API Keys. |
| Scheduled Task | A weekly SEO brief without asking | After connecting, open Computer and ask: “Every Monday at 9am, run my SEOmatic weekly brief and tell me only what changed.” Confirm the schedule; it shows on the Automations dashboard. |
Pick the OAuth connector. You sign in once, nothing secret is pasted anywhere, and every Computer task can use SEOmatic. Add a Scheduled Task on top when you want the brief to come to you.
Perplexity Computer reads Google Search Console through SEOmatic, and the fixes you approve go live in your CMS. Pick your platform for the exact steps:
Perplexity shows up in SEOmatic in two different ways, and this page is about the first.
So you can ask Perplexity Computer, through SEOmatic, whether Perplexity cites you.
Connecting is free, and so is the SEOmatic account behind it: no card. Free covers the diagnosis with no limit: Search Console reports and insights, site audits of up to 30 pages, live page analysis, and your AI visibility results.
Live market data, like keyword volumes, backlink profiles and competitor domains, uses free questions: 5 a month, plus a one-time 10 bonus questions when you connect Google Search Console. One question covers up to 5 lookups.
Paid plans remove the question limit and add the treatment: agents stage fixes on your site (titles, descriptions, content updates, technical fixes, internal links) and run campaigns and fresh AI visibility scans. Every paid plan starts with a 14-Day Trial for $1, credited to your first payment. See pricing.
Search Console reads and audits are free with no limit. Free questions only cover live market data, and one question covers up to 5 lookups in a Computer task. A 30-day plan with staged fixes fits a paid plan. Perplexity's own plan and Computer credits are separate.
Perplexity Computer can stage work in SEOmatic, never publish it on its own. A staged change is a proposal: it says what will change and why, and in Approval mode nothing touches your site until you approve it. The assistant records your decision, and it is told never to approve anything on its own judgment. Approved fixes start within seconds, the page's previous state is stored, and any applied change can be rolled back. Changes that could take a page out of Google, like a noindex, need an extra explicit confirmation. A Scheduled Task can report and stage, but approving always stays with you.

How do I connect SEOmatic to Perplexity Computer?
In Perplexity, open Plugins in the sidebar (Customize, then Connectors on the older UI), choose Add custom, then Connector, then Add MCP connector, and pick Remote. Name it SEOmatic, enter https://app.seomatic.ai/api/mcp, choose OAuth and Streamable HTTP, save, then click the SEOmatic card to sign in. Every Computer task can then use it.
Can Perplexity Computer do SEO?
It can research the web, but it cannot see your Search Console on its own. With SEOmatic connected, Computer reads your real clicks, positions and index status, audits your site, checks your AI visibility and, on paid plans, stages fixes for you to approve.
Which Perplexity plan do I need?
Perplexity Computer is included with Perplexity Pro and Max. Paid Pro includes some Computer usage each week, and Max includes 10,000 Computer credits a month. Custom connectors are on Pro, Max and Enterprise; on an organization plan, an admin has to allow them before the option appears. The SEOmatic side is free to start.
Is SEOmatic free with Perplexity Computer?
Yes to start, with no card. Search Console reports, site audits and page checks are free with no limit. Live market data (keyword volumes, competitors, backlinks) uses free questions: 5 a month, plus a one-time 10 when you connect Search Console. Long Computer tasks that pull market data fit better on a paid plan, which has no limit and adds agents that stage fixes.
Should I use OAuth or an API key?
Use OAuth. You sign in to SEOmatic once and no secret is pasted anywhere. Choose API Key only if the sign-in is blocked for your account, and create the key in SEOmatic under Settings, AI Agents, API Keys.
Can Perplexity Computer send me a weekly SEO report?
Yes. After connecting, open Computer and ask: “Every Monday at 9am, run my SEOmatic weekly brief and tell me only what changed.” Confirm the schedule Computer proposes. The task then shows on the Automations dashboard with its next run, and it can use the same connectors as any Computer task. Each run uses Computer credits. The brief reports and can stage fixes, but it never approves them.
Computer says it has no SEOmatic tools. What should I check?
Open Plugins, then Installed (Customize, then Connectors on the older UI), and check that SEOmatic shows as connected. If it shows Reconnect, an error tag or a warning dot, choose Disconnect, then Connect, and finish the sign-in again. Then start a new Computer task, type / in the message box and select SEOmatic, and name SEOmatic in your request. If Sources is set to Web only, Perplexity skips your connectors, so allow them. If the sign-in window closes or gets stuck, allow pop-ups and cookies for perplexity.ai or try a private window.
Is this the same as showing up in Perplexity answers?
No. Perplexity Computer is the agent you connect to SEOmatic. Perplexity answers are a place your site can be cited. SEOmatic tracks that separately as AI visibility, so you can see which questions cite you and which cite a competitor.
Are the numbers real?
Yes. They come from your own Google Search Console through SEOmatic, and each answer names the exact date range and number of days, so you can check them yourself.
Can it change my site without asking?
No. By default every change SEOmatic proposes waits for your approval before it touches your site, and your assistant is told never to approve on its own. Approved changes are stored with the page's previous state, so any edit to an existing page can be rolled back. If you later want low-risk fixes to go ahead on their own, you can turn that on in your autonomy settings; changes to your URLs or indexing, and new content, still wait for you.
