Have your AI assistant act when something changes
Updated
What SEOmatic can tell your assistant#
| Event | When it happens |
|---|---|
| A ranking dropped | A search that brings you clicks slipped in Google. Checked daily when your SEO agents are on. |
| A fix is waiting for approval | An agent staged a fix that runs once someone approves it. |
| A fix ran | An approved fix finished. |
| A fix is live | The change was seen on your live page. Its results are measured from now. |
| A site audit finished | A deep site audit is done, with how many problems are new or fixed since the last one. |
| An AI visibility scan finished | With the AI answers you gained or lost since the last scan. |
| A campaign finished | Every task in a page set, content sweep or bulk edit is done. |
| A page was published, or failed to publish | For pages SEOmatic generated. |
SEOmatic keeps 30 days of these events for each site.
ChatGPT#
In a ChatGPT Work chat or a dot with SEOmatic connected, ask it to watch for an event and say what to do when it arrives, for example "When one of my rankings drops by 3 places or more, tell me which page and what changed". ChatGPT subscribes to SEOmatic itself; there is nothing to set up in SEOmatic.
A Claude, Grok Bot or Cursor routine#
- Create the routine and write its instructions, for example "Read the SEOmatic event in this run and, if a fix is waiting for approval, summarise it for me". A Claude routine needs an API trigger; a Grok Bot or Cursor routine needs a Webhook trigger. Copy the trigger address and its token or key.
- In a chat where SEOmatic is connected, ask: "Send fixes waiting for approval to my Claude routine" and give the address and token when asked. You need to be an Admin or the Owner of the workspace.
- Ask your assistant to send a test event. The routine should start within a minute.
Your token is stored encrypted
SEOmatic only uses it to start that routine and never shows it again. A Claude routine accepts about 30 starts an hour, so SEOmatic stops at 25 in an hour; anything past that waits in the event list for the routine to read.
Any assistant, on a schedule#
Scheduled chats in Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Grok can start with "Check SEOmatic events since my last run". SEOmatic returns what happened since that connection last asked, so nothing is missed between runs.
See, test or stop where events go#
Ask your assistant "Where are my SEOmatic events sent?" to list them, then ask it to test or delete one. Disconnecting an assistant in Settings > AI Agents > API Keys also stops its ChatGPT subscriptions.
- Which plans include this?
- Assistant alerts work on every plan, including Free. Plain webhooks to your own server need the Infrastructure plan, as before. See Zapier, Make and n8n.
- Can an event change my site?
- No. An event only tells your assistant what happened. Fixes still go through your approval mode.
- My routine did not start.
- Ask your assistant to test the target. If the test fails, check that the routine is on and that the token or key is current; regenerating it in the routine means giving the new one to SEOmatic.
