Inside SEOmatic's Google Search Console MCP
The Short Answer
SEOmatic is a hosted Google Search Console MCP server at https://app.seomatic.ai/api/mcp. Google does not publish an official Search Console MCP server as of October 2026, so the alternatives are community servers you run yourself, which need a Google Cloud project with an OAuth client or a service account. SEOmatic needs one Google sign-in and nothing to host. Like those servers it reads clicks, impressions, CTR, position and URL Inspection; unlike them it can also stage the fix in your CMS (18 platforms), wait for your approval, and then measure whether the change worked. Reading Search Console through SEOmatic is free with no limit.
Connect in About a Minute
Add https://app.seomatic.ai/api/mcp as a remote MCP server (Streamable HTTP) in your agent, then sign in to SEOmatic in the browser. Sign-in is OAuth 2.1 with PKCE and dynamic client registration, so there is no key to paste. Scripts and headless agents can send a workspace API key as a Bearer token instead.
The first time the agent needs your data, it gives you a one-click link to connect Search Console with a normal Google sign-in. Setup guides per agent: Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Gemini and 24 more.

Every answer names the exact date range it covers, so "last month" can never quietly become 28 days.
- Traffic: "Which pages lost the most clicks in the last 28 days, and on which queries?" "Compare the last 28 days with the 28 days before."
- Quick wins: "Which queries rank 5 to 15 with real impressions?" "Which titles get seen but skipped?" (CTR outliers by position)
- Cannibalization: "Which of my pages compete for the same query?"
- Indexing: "Inspect these 50 URLs and tell me why the excluded ones are excluded."
- Brand and seasonality: "How much of my traffic is branded?" "What does a normal October look like over the last 16 months?"
- Other surfaces: Discover, Google News, image and video search performance, and sitemap status.
What It Returns, and the Limits
| What | Limit |
|---|---|
| Top queries or pages | Up to 1,000 rows per call |
| Period comparisons | Up to 10,000 rows per period, 7 to 45 day windows |
| Query by page map | 100 to 1,000 rows, paged from Google 25,000 at a time |
| Date windows | 1 to 90 days; seasonality looks back 16 months |
| Freshness | Ends on the last finalized day (Google lags 2 to 3 days); fresh, partial data on request |
| URL Inspection | Up to 50 URLs per call (Google allows about 2,000 a day per property) |
These are Search Console API limits passed through honestly: the agent sees when a list is cut, so it never reads a top-1,000 list as the whole site.
SEOmatic vs Self-Hosted Search Console MCP Servers
The open-source servers are good if you are happy to run one. Star counts are from GitHub on October 13, 2026.
| SEOmatic | mcp-gsc (1.9k stars) | mcp-server-gsc (278 stars) | Suganthan's GSC MCP (146 stars) | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Runs where | Hosted | Your machine (Python) | Your machine (npx) | Your machine (npx) |
| Google setup | One Google sign-in | Your own Cloud OAuth client or a service account | A service account | Your own OAuth client or a service account |
| Works in Claude web and mobile, ChatGPT | Yes | Only if you host it yourself (it has an SSE mode) | Desktop apps | Desktop apps |
| Tools | Search Console, indexing, insights, audits, AI visibility, keyword data | 20 Search Console tools | 1 (search analytics) | 29 Search Console tools |
| Changes your site | Yes, staged for your approval, in 18 CMSs | No (can submit sitemaps; destructive actions off by default) | No | Submits URLs and sitemaps with full scope |
| Measures whether a fix worked | Yes | No | No | No |
| Price | Free to read; fixes on paid plans | Free, open source | Free, open source | Free, open source |
Pick a self-hosted server when you want the raw API on your own machine and nothing else. Pick SEOmatic when you want it in every agent with no setup, and when you want the answer to turn into a fix.
Is There an Official Google Search Console MCP?
No. As of October 2026, Google's MCP catalog lists servers for BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Maps and others, and an official Google Analytics MCP, but no Search Console server. Every Search Console MCP today, SEOmatic included, calls the public Search Console API on your behalf.
From Answer to Fix
A Search Console MCP that only reads leaves the work with you. With SEOmatic, the agent can stage the fix itself, in WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Wix, Squarespace (products), Ghost, Blogger, Framer, Drupal, BigCommerce, HubSpot, Contentful, Strapi, Sanity, Craft CMS, Next.js and Lovable databases, and GitHub repositories as pull requests.
By default, nothing changes on your site until you approve it. A fix is staged as a proposal that says what will change and why. Approved fixes run within seconds, the page's previous state is stored, and any edit to an existing page can be rolled back. A rollback refuses to overwrite edits someone made since. Changes that could take a page out of Google, like a noindex, need an extra confirmation.
Every shipped change is measured against its own baseline and the site's trend: after 14 days for a title, 28 for a content refresh, 42 for striking-distance and cannibalization work, 90 for a new page. It is marked verified only when the gain over the site's own trend is statistically clear and worth at least 5 more clicks; otherwise it is ineffective, or regressed when it falls more than 15%. Low-risk changes that lose traffic roll back on their own. Read more about the approval workflow and one-click rollback.
What Is Free
Connecting is free with no card. Search Console reports, page checks and 30-page site audits are free, as often as you like. Live market data (keyword volumes, competitors, backlinks) uses free questions: 5 a month, plus a one-time 10 when you connect Search Console, and one question covers up to 5 lookups. Staging and publishing fixes is part of paid plans, which start with a 14-day trial.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there an official Google Search Console MCP server?
No. As of October 2026 Google publishes MCP servers for Google Analytics, Google Ads and several Cloud products, but not for Search Console. Search Console MCP servers, including SEOmatic, call the public Search Console API.
Do I need a Google Cloud project or a service account?
Not with SEOmatic. You connect Search Console with a normal Google sign-in. Self-hosted servers such as mcp-gsc need your own OAuth client or a service account with a JSON key.
Is the Search Console MCP free?
Yes for reading. Search Console reports, insights and URL Inspection through SEOmatic are free with no limit and no card. Paid plans add agents that stage fixes on your site.
Can it change my website?
By default, only after you approve. On paid plans the agent stages a fix, such as a new title, in your CMS. By default nothing goes live until you approve it, and any change can be rolled back.
How many rows can it read?
Up to 1,000 rows for top queries or pages per call, and up to 10,000 rows per period when comparing two periods of 7 to 45 days. Date windows run from 1 to 90 days, with 16 months available for seasonality.
Which AI agents does it work with?
Any agent that supports remote MCP servers, including Claude on web, desktop and mobile, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, Gemini and GitHub Copilot.
