No supported platform? Use copy and paste fixes
Updated
Which sites this is for#
- Builders with no editing access for other tools: GoDaddy Website Builder, Google Sites, Weebly, Jimdo, Duda, Hostinger Website Builder, Strikingly and Joomla.
- Pages a connected platform cannot edit, such as Squarespace pages and blog posts or the text of Wix static pages. Your agents do not plan fixes for these pages on their own, but a change you ask for there comes as text to paste.
- Any site before you connect it.
Built with code? If it deploys from GitHub, connect GitHub and fixes arrive as pull requests instead. If your platform is in the Connections list, connect it: see connect your website.
What your agents do without a connection#
- With Search Console connected, they propose up to 3 requests to get pages that Google has not indexed yet into Google.
- Without Search Console, or when there is nothing to index, they run a technical audit of a few of your pages.
- Before you connect, one first fix can be approved and handed to you as text: structured data, an SEO title and meta description, social tags, an FAQ block, heading fixes or image alt text.
- They do not plan page edits, because they cannot make them. Connect Search Console so they can rank fixes by your real Google data. See connect Google Search Console.
Paste a fix#
- Open the approved task. Each value has its own box with a copy button, for example SEO title, Meta description or Code for your page's head.
- In your site builder, open the page named in the task.
- For an SEO title or meta description, open the page's SEO settings and paste each value into its field.
- For structured data, paste the code into your builder's custom code or header scripts setting for that page.
- For page text, click the text in your editor and paste the new text over it.
- Save and publish the page in your builder.
- Back in SEOmatic, click I've pasted it.
What happens after you click I've pasted it#
| You see | What it means |
|---|---|
| Found it on your live page. Measuring the result from now on. | Done. The fix is live and SEOmatic tracks its effect. |
| Thanks. Checking your live page for it now; we mark it done as soon as it shows. | SEOmatic keeps looking for up to 24 hours. A page cache can delay it by a few hours. |
| We could not find your paste on your live page within 24 hours... | Check you saved and published the right page, then click I've pasted it again. |
| We could not read your page from our checker... | Your site likely blocks automated visitors, so SEOmatic cannot confirm the change. Open the page and check it yourself. It is not counted as a confirmed change. |
Always click I've pasted it
It tells SEOmatic to look for the change on your live page. Once found, the fix is marked live and its result is measured.
- Is there an Apply it now button?
- Not without a connection. There is nowhere for SEOmatic to write, and running it again would only charge credits for the same text.
- Is SEOmatic still useful on my builder?
- Your agents find what to fix, track your Google and AI search visibility and write every change. You do the pasting. If you move to WordPress, Shopify, Webflow or another supported platform, fixes can go live for you.
- Can my developer connect it instead?
- If your platform is supported, yes. Send them a one-time link: see connect your website.
