Connect Your Google Business Profile and Pick Your Listing
Updated
Connect It#
- In the sidebar, open Business Profile and click Connect. Or go straight to Settings > Integrations.
- Under Connect apps, find Google Business Profile and turn on its switch. Google opens.
- Sign in with the Google account that owns or manages your listing, and allow access. Google calls it permission to manage your Business Profile.
- Back in SEOmatic, the Choose your Business Profile listing window opens. Tick the listings for this website. A listing whose website is this site says Matches this website.
- Click Use this listing (or Use 2 listings, and so on).
- Each site (workspace) has its own pick. An agency can connect one Google account and give each client site its own listings.
- To change it later, open Settings > Integrations. Under the Google Business Profile row it says This workspace uses followed by your listings. Click Change.
- None of these saves no listing for this site. The Business Profile pages then ask you to pick one.
- If the window says No listings found on this Google account, you signed in with a Google account that does not manage the listing. Turn the switch off, then on again with the right account.
What SEOmatic Does with It#
- Reads, every day: calls, direction requests, website clicks, how often you were shown in Search and Maps, and your reviews. Reading is free.
- Drafts, for your approval: a reply to each review, a weekly update from a job photo, and profile edits such as missing services or service areas.
- Publishes only after an approval. Name, address and primary category are never changed on their own: each one needs your explicit OK. The one exception you can switch on yourself is sending replies to 4 and 5 star reviews without asking. It is off by default.
Replies, updates and profile edits are posted on Google in your name, so they stay if you leave. Business Profile is included in your plan, billed monthly, cancel anytime.
Each part is explained in read your Business Profile Overview, post a weekly update from a job photo and reply to every Google review.
What Each Screen Means#
| You see | What it means |
|---|---|
| Connect Your Google Business Profile | No Google account with Business Profile access is connected yet. Click Connect. |
| Pick Your Listing | Google is connected, but no listing is chosen for this site. Click Choose listing. |
| Waiting for Google to Open Access | Google is still reviewing SEOmatic's access to its Business Profile API. Until it opens, your calls, reviews and updates cannot be read or sent. You can still approve work: it is held, and goes out the day access opens. |
| The Business Profile pages with your numbers | Everything works. Data syncs from Google every day. |
- Who can connect it?
- Anyone who sees Settings > Integrations: the Owner and Admins. The Google account you sign in with must manage the listing in Google.
- Does connecting cost anything?
- No. Connecting and the daily sync are free. Drafting replies and updates, and the weekly Google Maps comparison, use a few AI credits. See the Overview article for what Refresh costs.
- How do I disconnect?
- Turn off the Google Business Profile switch in Settings > Integrations. SEOmatic stops reading and writing your profile. Nothing already on Google is removed.
- I have several locations.
- Tick them all for this site. The Business Profile pages add them up, and a menu at the top picks one. Locations lists each with its rating and reviews.
