What your agents can change on WordPress, Shopify, Wix and every other platform
Updated
How to read this page#
Each platform decides what other tools may edit. Your agents follow those rules: they only plan work your platform can apply. When you ask for a change your platform cannot take, your agent still writes it and hands it to you as ready-to-paste text. It is never marked as done until it shows on your live page.
- Yes: your agent writes it to your site once the task is approved.
- Some: works on some pages or needs one extra step. The notes column says which.
- Paste: your agents do not plan this on their own. If you ask for it, your agent writes the change and you paste it in yourself.
Connecting changes nothing by itself
Connecting lets your agents read your pages. They write a change after it is approved. Unless you chose Approval mode, changes that can be undone are approved for you and listed in a daily email with an Undo link; the rest waits for your yes. See approval modes.

Rules that apply everywhere#
- Redirects and robots.txt always wait for a click. Even in Auto mode, your agent prepares them and you click Apply on my site on the task. You can also click Apply on my site on the Slack card. robots.txt can be applied in one click on Wix, and on WordPress once the SEO Writer plugin can be installed. Everywhere else you add it yourself.
- Every write is read back. If your platform quietly ignores a change, the task tells you and gives you the text to paste. It is not counted as live.
- New articles go live once approved. After you approve a content campaign, finished articles that pass the quality review are published live by default, not saved as drafts.
- Prices and stock are never touched. On WooCommerce, Shopify and BigCommerce your agents do not change prices, stock, SKUs or orders.
- Headless platforms need your website to show the fields. On Sanity, Contentful, Strapi, Drupal and Craft, SEOmatic fills in the fields in your content. Whether Google sees them depends on your website's code reading those fields.
Not on these lists?#
GoDaddy Website Builder, Google Sites, Weebly, Jimdo, Duda, Hostinger Website Builder, Strikingly and Joomla have no way for other tools to edit pages. You can still use SEOmatic: your agents find the fixes and write each one ready to paste. See sites without a supported platform.
- Where can I see this for my own site?
- Your dashboard, your setup screens and Settings show a card with what SEOmatic can do on your platform. Each platform guide in this help center goes into more detail.
- Can I make my platform do more?
- Sometimes. On Shopify and BigCommerce, one theme edit turns on structured data. On WordPress, the free SEO Writer plugin will let SEO titles, canonical, noindex and structured data land on more sites once it can be installed. Each platform guide explains its extra steps.
- Do paste-only changes still count?
- Yes. After you paste, click I've pasted it. SEOmatic checks your live page for up to 24 hours and starts measuring the result once it finds the change.
