How to cancel your subscription or trial
Updated
Cancel in a few clicks#
- In the sidebar, click Settings, then the Billing Details tab.
- Click Cancel Subscription.
- In Before you go…, pick the reason that fits best and click Continue.
- Some reasons show an offer, such as a call, a smaller plan or a pause. To skip it, click Continue cancelling.
- Read the summary of what happens, then click Cancel Subscription (on a trial: Cancel Trial).
- A last screen asks what went wrong. It is optional: click Skip to finish.
You are done when the billing card shows a Cancelling badge and the date your plan ends. You also get an email confirming it.
Only the account owner can cancel
Billing Details is visible to the owner only. If you are an Admin or Member, ask the owner. If you cannot reach the Billing Details tab for any reason, email contact@seomatic.ai and a person will cancel it for you, usually within one business day.
Cancelling a trial#
- Your plan is never charged. The billing card shows Your trial is cancelled and ends on your trial end date.
- The $1 trial fee is not refunded.
- You keep access until the trial end date, then your workspace moves to the Free plan with all your data.
Only worried about the automatic charge?
Pick I don't want to be charged automatically. You can then click Keep my trial: nothing is charged before your trial end date, and you get an email 3 days before it ends. If you cancel with this reason anyway, your agents keep working until the trial ends.
With any other reason, your agents stop as soon as you cancel the trial. Tasks you already approved, or approve afterwards, do not run. Your data and SEO Copilot stay available until the end date.
Cancelling a paid plan#
- No further charges. Your plan stays until the end of the billing period you already paid for. That period is not refunded.
- Work your agents do on their own stops right away. Changes you approve yourself still run until the end date.
- On the end date your workspace moves to the Free plan. Your data stays, and so does SEO Copilot. Only the agents that make changes stop.
What happens to your website, your pages and your data is covered in what happens when you cancel.
Other options you may see#
| Option | When it is offered | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| A smaller plan instead? | Reason Too expensive, when a cheaper plan exists | See Smaller Plans opens the Plans tab. See change your plan. |
| Need a break instead of leaving? | Paid plans, for No longer need it or Too expensive. Not on trials, Enterprise, or while a payment is failing. | Pauses billing for 1, 2 or 3 months. |
| A call with the founder | Reasons Didn't see results and Too hard to use, and Too expensive when a smaller plan is offered | Books a call inside the window. Nothing is cancelled unless you continue. |
How a pause works
- Nothing is charged during the pause. Your data and settings are kept.
- SEOmatic is locked while paused: you see Your subscription is paused, your agents stop, and SEO Copilot is closed too.
- It resumes on its own when the pause ends. The first charge after it is your next renewal date on or after that day.
- To come back early, click Resume Subscription in Billing Details.
Changed your mind?#
- Before the end date: in Billing Details, click Reactivate {Plan}, then Resume Subscription. Billing carries on at the end of the current period. A trial picks up where it was, with the same end date. The cancellation email has a button that does the same thing.
- After the end date: in Settings > Plans, click Reactivate {Plan} or Choose Plan. You pay today. There is no second free trial.
- Will I get a refund?
- No. Cancelling stops future charges. The period you already paid for, and the $1 trial fee, are not refunded.
- My payment failed. Can I still cancel?
- Yes. Cancelling stops the payment retries. If it was your first payment after the trial, you are not charged and your account moves to the Free plan right away.
- I want to change plans, not cancel. Why is it refused?
- While your plan is set to cancel, plan changes are refused. Click Reactivate {Plan} in Billing Details first, then change plan.
- Does cancelling delete my account?
- No. Your account and data stay on the Free plan. To remove everything, see delete your account.
