How the 14-day free trial works, and when you are charged

Start your trial#
- After setup, the plan picker opens. You can also open it later from Settings > Plans. Only the account owner can start a trial.
- Pick a plan and click Start 14-day trial. Plans and prices are on the pricing page.
- On the secure Stripe payment page, enter your card. You see the $1 trial fee there. If you pay in Indian rupees, the fee is ₹100.
- You come back to your dashboard. A banner confirms your trial is active and shows the date it ends.
A card is required to start the trial. You also get an email confirming the trial and the date of your first charge.
What the trial includes#
- The plan you picked, with its features, sites and seats.
- 500,000 AI credits for the whole trial. See how credits work.
- Your first-day setup is on us. The site diagnosis and search baselines SEOmatic runs on day one do not count against your trial credits. Settings > Billing Details > Where your credits went shows how many we covered.
- Your agents can change your site once your website is connected: changes that can be undone go live on their own unless you chose Approval mode, and bigger changes wait for your yes.
- SEO Copilot questions are not counted. Each answer uses credits instead.
When you are charged#

To see your exact dates, open Settings > Billing Details. The top card says Your free trial ends on a date, then shows the first charge and its date.
Check your card before day 14
Debit cards, prepaid cards and cards that need approval in your bank app fail most often on the first real charge, even after the $1 went through. In the last 3 days of your trial, a card on your dashboard may ask you to Use another card or Keep this card. If a payment fails anyway, see your payment failed.
If you use all your trial credits#
Your agents stop and approved work waits. The board says Your agents stopped: this trial's AI credits are used up. You can wait for day 14, when your plan starts with its full monthly credits, or start your plan now.
- Click the button Start followed by your plan name, for example Start Launch now. It is on the trial banner and in the upgrade window.
- Read the confirmation: your trial ends now and the plan price is charged today to the card you saved.
- Confirm. Your full plan credits are ready within a few seconds.
Credit packs cannot be bought during a trial. They open once your plan has started.
Change plan during the trial#
In Settings > Plans, click Upgrade or Downgrade on another plan. During a trial, switching plans charges nothing and keeps your trial end date. The window may mention a prorated charge, but no charge is made until the trial ends.
Cancel during the trial#
- Open Settings > Billing Details.
- Click Cancel Subscription.
- Pick a reason and click Continue. If an offer appears, click Continue cancelling.
- Click Cancel Trial to confirm.
- Your plan is never charged. The $1 trial fee is not refunded.
- You keep access to your dashboard and data until the trial end date. Then your account moves to the Free plan, with all your data kept.
- Your agents stop making changes to your site as soon as you cancel, including tasks you approve afterwards. The one exception: if your reason is I don't want to be charged automatically, your agents keep working until the end date.
- Changes already made on your site stay there.
Changed your mind? Before the end date, click the Reactivate button with your plan name on the Billing Details card. More in how to cancel.
One trial per person#
- Each person gets one trial, across every account they own.
- If you had a subscription before, the button says Choose Plan and the plan is billed today, with no trial.
- Choosing Free does not use up your trial. You can start it later.
- If your card is declined at checkout, nothing is charged and your trial is still available. Try another card.
- Is the trial really free?
- It costs $1, which is taken off your first payment. If you cancel during the trial, the $1 is the only thing you pay.
- Will I get a receipt for the $1?
- No separate receipt. The email that confirms your trial states the fee. Every later payment gets a receipt by email and in Settings > Billing Details.
- My teammate cannot start the trial.
- Only the account owner can start a trial or change the plan.
