What campaigns are, and how to pause, stop or undo one
Updated
Spot a campaign#
Campaign cards on the AI Agents board carry a Campaign badge and a progress line such as 3/12 tasks done · open to see each one. Your agents propose campaigns in their Monday run, or you start one yourself with New campaign.
Start a campaign yourself#
- On the AI Agents board, click New campaign.
- Describe what you want in one or two lines, for example "fix every blog title" or "10 articles on onboarding".
- Click Start. SEO Copilot opens, asks anything it needs, then proposes the campaign.
- The campaign lands in Needs you. Open it, read the task list and the cost, then click Approve.
Some campaigns ask twice#
Article and landing page campaigns run in two steps, so you see real results before anything is written to your site.
- Articles: your first approval re-checks that each topic still has real search demand. The surviving topics then come back for a second approval before any article is written.
- Landing pages: your first approval builds the template, the data and 3 sample pages. The full set then comes back with its cost for a second approval before any page is made.
Control a campaign#
Click the campaign card to open it. It shows its status, the credits it has used, every task and everything the agents did.
| Button | What happens |
|---|---|
| Approve | Your agents start the campaign. Large campaigns go out in waves: the first wave is 50 pages or 15% of the pages, whichever is smaller. Campaigns of 20 pages or fewer go out at once. Later waves follow after your agents check how the first wave did |
| Pause | Nothing new starts. Changes already made stay live. The card stays in In flight marked Paused |
| Resume | Work picks up where it stopped |
| Stop | Asks Stop this campaign? Click Stop campaign. Tasks not yet done are dismissed. Changes already made stay live and keep being measured |
| Undo all changes | Asks you to confirm, then restores every page the campaign changed to how it was before. Anything that needs a second look is handed to you, never skipped silently |
Who can approve
Anyone from Member up can approve most campaigns. A campaign that redirects pages, hides them from Google, changes their "real address" tag, merges or removes them needs an Admin or the Owner to approve or resume it.
Which campaigns run without your click#
In Assisted and Auto mode (the default, unless you chose Approval), when every task in the campaign is a change that can be undone, such as titles, links, structured data or page text, none of them is a type you ticked in Always ask first for…, and your daily credit cap is not reached. Its changes then appear in the daily email of changes, each with an Undo link. Bulk campaigns across many pages, article batches, landing pages and location pages always wait for your approval, in every mode. See approval modes.
When a campaign pauses on its own#
| The campaign says | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Held for confirmation | It would hide, remove, redirect or re-point many of your pages. That is fast to do and can take weeks to reverse | Read the task list. Click Resume to confirm, or Stop |
| Auto-paused because pages failed or were blocked | Too many pages failed or were held back by our quality review | Open the held tasks. Ask SEO Copilot what went wrong, then Resume |
| Auto-paused because generation failed | Writing the batch failed several times in a row | Click Resume to try again |
| Budget spent | The campaign used the credits you approved | Click Resume to give it 25% more of its estimate and continue |
| Nothing was changed | Every task ended, but no change reached your site. The message says why, for example the pages could not be edited through your connection | Check your connection, then ask SEO Copilot to re-create the work, or click Stop. Every task has already ended, so Resume alone does not bring the work back |
| Nothing is live yet | Your site saved the changes, but your live pages do not show them. A theme, SEO plugin or cache may override them | See my site still shows the old version |
More on each reason is in why was my campaign paused. While a task inside the campaign needs you, the Pause button is hidden and Review the change opens that task.
Good to know#
- Unapproved campaigns expire. Bulk, article, landing page and location page campaigns left unapproved for 14 days are removed.
- No email is sent when a campaign pauses. Check the bell at the top of the page: paused campaigns show near the top of Needs you.
- Advice campaigns end as Advice delivered: they leave you a list of fixes and change nothing on your site.
- A campaign can hold up to 500 pages.
- Can I approve only some tasks in a campaign?
- Approving the campaign approves its tasks together. To leave pages out, ask SEO Copilot to change the campaign before you approve it, or Stop it and keep what is already done.
- Does stopping a campaign undo its changes?
- No. Stop only cancels the tasks not yet done. To reverse changes, click Undo all changes.
