Approve, dismiss or undo a task
Updated
Approve a task#
Unless your workspace is in Approval mode, many cards in Needs you go live on their own within a short while, because they can be undone. Approving one only makes it start sooner. Cards for redirects, page removals and batches of new pages always wait for you. See approval modes.
- In the sidebar, click AI Agents.
- In the Needs you column, click a card to open it. Read What the agent does and If you approve, which says exactly what will change and how to undo it.
- For a title and description rewrite, click See the exact change to read the new text before you decide. Body edits cannot be previewed before approval.
- Click Approve. Depending on the task, the button may read Publish this change, or Open a pull request for a site on GitHub.

The card moves to In flight and a message says On it. The card moves to In flight. Most small fixes are written to your site within a few minutes. If the task cannot run yet, the message says why, for example that your site must be connected first.
Approve all the small fixes at once#
When the Needs you column holds small fixes marked Undo in one click, its header shows a line such as 3 changes going live on their own today, 2 wait for your yes. The first number counts fixes your agents will make on their own: you do not need to approve them. When some wait for your yes, a button such as Approve 2 appears under the line, with the estimated credits underneath.
- Click the Approve button in the Needs you header. It approves only the fixes that wait for your yes.
- A message shows Undo for 5 seconds. Click it if you changed your mind, and nothing is approved.
- SEOmatic checks each fix again, then approves the ones that can still run. Any that changed or cannot run stay in Needs you, and the message says how many.

One click approves up to 50 fixes. If you have more, click the button again.
Dismiss a task#
- Click the X on the card, or Dismiss inside it. On a card marked Cannot run yet, the button is Hide.
- The task leaves the board for good. There is no way to bring back a dismissed task, so ask SEO Copilot to propose it again if you need it.
- You can tap a reason: Wrong page, Not a priority, Don't touch this topic or Felt too risky. The reason is recorded for our team, but today it does not stop similar tasks from being proposed again.
- You can also dismiss a task that was approved and then held for you. For a site on GitHub, dismissing closes the pull request.
Undo a change#
- On the AI Agents board, find the change in the Live on your site list.
- Click Undo next to it.
- If someone edited the page after the agent's change, a warning opens: This page changed since the agent's edit. It shows what is on the page right now. Click Undo anyway to put back the old version, or Keep the page as it is.
- When it is done, the message says Undone. Your page is back to how it was.

- No time limit. You can undo a change for as long as it is on your site, even if your plan has lapsed.
- What comes back. The exact earlier title, description, page text, links or structured data. A new article goes back to draft on WordPress, Shopify, Ghost, Webflow, BigCommerce, Contentful and Blogger.
- Measuring continues. The task keeps being measured against what is actually on your page.
- On GitHub, undo opens a restore pull request. Merge it on GitHub to finish the undo.
Change not in the Live on your site list?
That list only shows changes SEOmatic has seen on your live page. To undo a change that was written but not seen yet, click Live feed at the top of the board, hover the change marked Applied and click the undo arrow (Undo this change).
What cannot be undone#
- Requests asking Google to look at a page, and sitemap submissions. They change nothing on your site, but they cannot be recalled.
- Batches of articles and generated landing pages. Unpublish them in your website's editor.
- New articles on platforms other than the seven listed above. Unpublish them in your website's editor.
Undo a whole campaign, or everything#
- One change, from email: the daily email of changes your agents made on their own has an Undo link on each line. See the daily email of changes.
- One campaign: open the campaign card and click Undo all changes. See campaigns.
- Everything your agents ever changed: go to Settings > AI Agents > Undo everything and click Undo all agent changes, then Undo everything. Pages are restored oldest change first, in batches. Pages someone edited since are skipped and listed, so you can undo those one at a time. Published articles are not deleted.
Who can do what#
| Action | Who can do it |
|---|---|
| Approve, dismiss and undo most tasks | Members, Admins and the Owner |
| Approve redirects, hiding a page from Google, the page's "real address" tag, merges and page removals | Admins and the Owner |
| Change the approval mode or undo everything | Admins and the Owner |
| View the board | Everyone, including Viewers |
- Will approving a task on my homepage change it right away?
- Yes, when you click Approve on the board. Your homepage, pricing and checkout pages are never changed by an automatic approval, but your own click on the board is the go-ahead and the agent makes the change. An approval from email or Slack is held for you instead, with Apply it now in the task. Read the change in the task first.
- The card says a result got worse and needs me to undo it. Where is the button?
- Use Undo in the Live on your site list, or the undo arrow on that change in the Live feed. The task's own panel does not have an undo button.
- Can I edit a proposed change before I approve it?
- Not on the board. You can read the exact change for title and description rewrites, edit articles in the article editor, or ask SEO Copilot in chat to redo the task differently.
