My site still shows the old version of a page
Updated
First, check what SEOmatic saw#
Open the AI Agents board and find the change. Then match what you see.
| What you see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The change is in the Live on your site list with a Checked on your site badge. | SEOmatic loaded your page and saw the change. We load it twice, once normally and once skipping caches, and either one counts. | Clear your caches (steps below). The change is on your site. |
| The card is in Measuring but not in the Live on your site list. | The change was saved, but SEOmatic has not seen it on your page yet. It looks about 2 minutes, 10 minutes, 1 hour, 6 hours and 24 hours after saving. | Wait 24 hours. If it is still not listed, clear your caches, then read your theme or SEO plugin shows a different value. |
| "Saved on your site, but" a page "does not show it yet" or "Saved on your site. Checking" a page "now" (first fix card) | Your site took the change. The live page did not show it at the last look. | Wait. A page cache can take a few minutes, and SEOmatic looks again on its own. |
| "Nothing is live yet: your site stores" changes "but your theme or SEO plugin shows different values on the page" (campaign) | Your site saved the new values, but the page shows other ones. | Read your theme or SEO plugin shows a different value. |
| "(your site blocks our check)", or "We could not read your page from our checker (your site likely blocks automated visitors), so we cannot confirm this change." | Your firewall or security plugin turned our checker away. The change may well be live. | Open the page yourself in a private window and look. To let SEOmatic confirm changes, allow it in your firewall or security plugin. |
| "Draft ready. Publish it on your site to go live." | The agent created a draft page. Drafts are not public. | Publish the draft in your platform. For location pages, the Open the draft link takes you there. SEOmatic checks the page once it is published. |
| "saved to your Framer project but not confirmed live - publish your site in Framer to take it live, or undo the change" | The change is in your Framer project but not on your published site. | Publish your site in Framer. |
| "Merged, but the change is not showing on your site yet" (GitHub) | The pull request was merged, but your site has not rebuilt with it yet. | Check that your site deployed after the merge, for example in your hosting dashboard. |
| "We could not find your paste on your live page within 24 hours." | You pasted a change yourself, and SEOmatic did not see it on the page. | Check you saved and published it on the right page, clear your caches, then click I've pasted it again. |
Clear the caches between you and your page#
- Open the page in a private or incognito window. If the change shows there, your browser was showing a saved copy. Reload the normal window with Ctrl+Shift+R (Cmd+Shift+R on a Mac).
- Clear your site's cache. On WordPress, cache plugins such as WP Rocket, LiteSpeed Cache, W3 Total Cache and WP Super Cache each have a clear or purge button, usually in the top bar of your WordPress admin.
- Clear your host's cache. Many hosts, such as WP Engine, Kinsta and SiteGround, keep their own cache with a purge button in the hosting dashboard.
- Clear your CDN's cache. On Cloudflare, go to Caching > Configuration > Purge Cache, and purge the page's address.
- Reload the page in a private window.
Clearing a cache is safe
Clearing a cache only throws away saved copies. It never removes or undoes the change.
Your theme or SEO plugin shows a different value#
Sometimes your platform saves the new value, but something else decides what visitors see. This happens most with page titles and descriptions.
- Two SEO plugins. On WordPress, if two SEO plugins are active (for example Yoast and Rank Math), the one that prints the title may not be the one SEOmatic wrote to. Keep one active.
- A theme that writes its own title. Some themes print a fixed title or description. Check your theme settings.
- An SEO plugin template. A title pattern set for all pages can override a single page's title. Check the page's own SEO box.
- A page builder. Pages built with Elementor, Beaver Builder, Oxygen or Bricks keep their text in the builder. See page builder pages.
- Not sure which? Ask SEO Copilot which setting overrides the change on that page.
Google still shows the old title#
Google keeps its own copy of your page. It shows the new title and description after it visits the page again, which can take days to weeks. Google can also choose to show different text from your title. Your agents measure the result from your Search Console data over the following weeks. See when will I see results.
- Is my change lost?
- No. If your platform saved it, it stays saved. The See it live link in the Live on your site list opens the page SEOmatic checked.
- Can I undo the change instead?
- Yes. Click Undo on its row in the Live on your site list. See undo a change.
