Approve your first fix and see it go live
Updated
Find your first fix#
- In the sidebar, under Agents, click AI Agents.
- At the top of the board, find the card Your first fix is ready. It shows the page, what is wrong, and up to 2 lines of before and after.
- Read the line under the change. It tells you exactly what approving will do on your site.
- Click Approve this change. Depending on the fix, the button says Approve and run or Approve.
Your agents pick a small change you can see first: usually a new page title and description, or structured data that describes your business to Google. Changes that redirect or remove pages are never the first fix. To read every detail before you decide, click See the details.
You can also approve from your inbox. The email Your first fix is ready to review on your site has a See and approve the fix button.
No first fix card?
If the board says Your agents are finding your first work, wait a few minutes. If it asks you to connect your site, your website is not connected yet: see connect your website. If you see Try your agents on one small fix, click See the fix instead.
What approving does#
| The card says | What happens |
|---|---|
| Approve and your agent makes this change on your page | Your agent writes the change to your site. You can undo it in one click. |
| Your agent makes this change on your page on its own, no click needed | Your workspace is not in Approval mode and your site is connected, so it goes live by itself and shows up in your daily email with an Undo link. Approving starts it now. |
| Approve and your agent prepares the exact change for you to paste. | Your website is not connected. You get the exact text to paste into your site yourself. |
| Approve and your agent prepares the exact fix list for you. | This fix lives in your site settings. You get a step-by-step list to apply. |
Follow it until it is live#
The card changes as the work moves. You do not need to refresh.
| The card shows | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Your agent is on it | The change is being made. It usually takes a minute or two. | Nothing. |
| Your change is ready for a last look | Your agent prepared the change and is holding it before anything changes on your site. | Click Review it, read the change, then click Apply it now. |
| Done: your change is ready to paste | The change is ready as text. | Click Get the change, paste it into your site, then click I pasted it. SEOmatic checks your live page for it. |
| Your change is in a pull request | Your site is connected through GitHub. | Click Open the pull request and merge it. Nothing changes until you merge. |
| Saved on your site. Checking your page now | The change is written. SEOmatic is opening your live page to look for it. | Nothing. |
| Live on your page: we opened the page and checked | Done. The change is on your live page. | Click View the page to see it. |
| Saved on your site, but your page does not show it yet | Often a page cache. SEOmatic looks again on its own and tells you when it shows. | Wait, or clear your site's cache. See my site shows the old version. |
| This one did not go through | Nothing changed on your site. | Click See why for the reason and the next step. |
Undo it if you change your mind#
- On the AI Agents board, find the change in the Live on your site column.
- Click Undo next to it. Your page goes back to how it was.
There is no time limit. If someone edited the page after the agent did, SEOmatic warns you first with This page changed since the agent's edit, so you do not overwrite newer work by mistake. More in approve, dismiss or undo a task.
What happens after it is live#
- You get an email Your first fix is live once SEOmatic sees the change on your page.
- SEOmatic measures the page against your own Search Console data. A title change gets its first verdict after about 2 weeks. See live, measuring and verified.
- Next, changes that can be undone go live on their own unless you chose Approval mode, and you get a daily email with an Undo link for each. Bigger changes, such as redirects, wait in the Needs you column. See approval modes.
- Does approving cost credits?
- Yes, a small amount. Each task card shows About a number of credits before you approve. See how credits work.
- Who can approve?
- Members, admins and the owner. Changes that redirect pages or remove them from Google need an admin.
- I approved, but the card says something else is needed.
- Some changes are held for a reason, such as a protected page or a missing connection. I approved a fix but nothing changed lists every reason and its fix.
