A change landed on the wrong page, or a page builder page was skipped

Page builder pages#
Some WordPress page builders save a page's text in their own layout data, not in the WordPress page content. A change written to the WordPress content would never show on the page, so your agents do not write it.
| Builder | Agents can change page text | Agents can create new draft pages |
|---|---|---|
| Block editor | Yes | Yes |
| Classic editor | Yes | Yes |
| Divi | Yes | Yes, with the SEOmatic SEO Writer plugin 1.5.0 or later |
| WPBakery | Yes | No |
| Elementor | No | Yes, with the SEOmatic SEO Writer plugin 1.5.0 or later |
| Beaver Builder, Oxygen, Bricks | No | No |
On every builder, your agents can still change the page's SEO title and meta description. See connect WordPress for what each SEO plugin allows.
What you see
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| "Needs you: not applied because this page is built with a page builder that keeps its text in its own layout data, so a change to the page's text would never show - make it in your page builder" | Make the change yourself in your page builder, or click Dismiss. Nothing was written to your page. |
| A campaign closed with "Nothing was changed:" pages "are built with a page builder (such as Elementor)..." | Nothing to undo. Nothing was charged for those pages. |
| A task where the title and description changed, but not the page text | Expected on page builder pages. The text part is left for you to make in your builder. |
The agent picked the wrong page#
Agents choose pages mostly from your Search Console data. Sometimes Google ranks a page you would rather not push, or two of your pages compete for the same search.
- Before you approve, check the page under the card's title. It is the page that will change.
- If it is wrong, click the X on the card (or Dismiss in the panel) and tap Wrong page. This records your reason. It does not stop similar proposals by itself.
- Go to Settings > AI Agents > Your site and market. Under Searches that bring you business, click Add search.
- Type the search, for example "emergency plumber leeds", and the address of the page that should show for it. Pick a priority, then click Save.
When Google shows a different page for that search, your agents now propose work on the page you chose. Workspace admins and the owner can edit this list.
The change went to a different copy of the page#
If a page exists twice in your platform, for example an old copy, a duplicate with "-2" at the end of its address, or a translated version, the change may land on a copy you did not expect.
On WordPress, SEOmatic checks this before writing. When an address shows a different published page than the one on record, it follows the page your visitors see and runs the change there. The task says paused while it moves to the page your visitors see at this address - nothing to do on your side; it runs again by itself. Nothing on your site is deleted. When an address only shows another page, such as its parent page, there is nothing separate to change and the task closes. Only when SEOmatic cannot tell which page visitors see does the task ask you to keep one page in WordPress and trash the other.
- Open the task. The link under Where is the page the agent worked on.
- Open that link and the page you expected side by side.
- In your platform, look for another page with the same title or a similar address.
- If the change is on the wrong copy, undo it (below). Then remove or unpublish the copy you do not need, so the next change lands on the right page.
Undo a change on the wrong page#
- In the sidebar, click AI Agents.
- In the Live on your site list, find the change. Click Show all if you do not see it.
- Click Undo on its row. The page goes back to how it was before the agent's change.
Not in the list yet? Click Live feed, point at the row marked Applied and click the undo icon. More in undo a change that broke something.
- Can agents change text on my Elementor pages?
- No. Make text changes in Elementor yourself. Agents can still change the SEO title and meta description of those pages. The one exception is location pages: with the SEO Writer plugin 1.5.0 or later, that work can update an Elementor layout.
- Can I stop agents from touching a page?
- Yes. Add it to Settings > AI Agents > Protected Pages. Work approved for you, or running inside a campaign, never edits those pages. They wait for you instead.
