Overview#
| Number | What it means |
|---|---|
| Clicks | How many times people clicked your site in Google results. |
| Impressions | How many times your site appeared in Google results. |
| CTR | Click rate: clicks divided by impressions. |
| Avg position | Your average rank in Google results, weighted by impressions. Lower is better: 1 is the top. |
- Each number shows the change versus the period before. Click a number to chart it.
- Pick Last 7 days, Last 28 days or Last 90 days at the top. The default is 28 days.
- The caption says through a date. Google finalizes its data 2 to 3 days late, so the most recent days are never included.
- By device and Top countries at the bottom split your clicks.
- Once your agents have shipped changes, a line on the chart shows their measured effect, for example an estimated number of extra clicks a month, or results within normal variation so far.
Position went up while clicks grew?
A higher Avg position number means you rank lower on average. This often happens when you start showing for many new searches on page 2 or 3. Your clicks are the number that matters.
Keywords#
Search Visibility > Keywords lists the searches that bring you traffic, up to 500.
- Keyword Positions groups them: Top 3, positions 4 to 10, Page 2 and 21+, with how many quick wins are one page away from page 1.
- Filter with All, Page 2, Top 10, Branded and Non-branded, or type in Filter keywords….
- Page 2 is where quick wins are: searches where you almost reach page 1.
- Branded means the search contains your brand name. It is an estimate. If the branded filters are greyed out, SEOmatic does not know your brand name yet.
- Each row has Clicks, Impressions, CTR, Position with its change, and a weekly Trend.
Top Pages#
- Search Visibility > Top Pages lists the pages Google sends you traffic to, up to 500.
- Page Health counts pages as Growing, Stable or Declining, based on weekly clicks.
- Decaying shows pages that lost 30% or more of their clicks over the last 4 weeks, compared with the 4 weeks before (pages with at least 20 clicks before).
- Expand a row to see the top 10 searches that page ranks for, under Ranks for.
Why the numbers can differ from Search Console#
- Time lag. SEOmatic stops at Google's last complete day. Search Console's own screens can include newer days that are not final yet.
- Refresh. SEOmatic keeps your numbers for up to 1 hour before asking Google again, so a brand-new connection or a new day can take up to an hour to show.
- Row limit. The Keywords and Top Pages tables show your top 500.
- A different property. If the numbers look far off, check which property this workspace uses. See Search Console shows no data.
- It says Couldn't load Search Console data.
- Click Try again once. If it keeps failing, Google probably no longer accepts your connection: the account owner opens Settings > Integrations and clicks Reconnect.
- Can my teammates see this?
- Yes. Everyone in the workspace sees the same data, read through the workspace owner's Google connection.
- Does this page cost credits or need a paid plan?
- No. Search Visibility is free on every plan.
