Reply to Every Google Review with a Drafted Answer
Updated
Approve, Edit or Skip a Reply#
- Open Business Profile > Reviews in the sidebar. The number on the Reviews tab is how many replies wait for you.
- Needs a reply is open first, with unhappy customers at the top. A review of 1 to 3 stars without a reply has the Unhappy customer badge.
- Read the review and the Drafted reply under it.
- Click Approve reply to post it on Google. Or click Edit, change the text and click Save, then approve. Or click Skip to leave that review without a reply.
- Each reply answers what that reviewer said. To an unhappy customer it owns the problem without excuses and offers a way back. It never adds a phone number or email that is not yours.
- With several replies waiting, Approve all approves every drafted reply in the list, up to 20 at a time. Use the rating filter first if you want to approve only 4 and 5 stars.
- Every drafted reply also waits on the AI Agents board, and in Slack when it is connected, so you can approve it from there too.
- New reviews arrive with the daily sync. A review that came in since then says A reply is drafted on the next sync.
- Google limits a reply to about 4,000 letters. Drafting a reply uses a small number of AI credits.
Emails About New Reviews#
Email me about new reviews is on by default. The email carries the drafted reply. A bad review is emailed right away; good ones at most once a day. Turn the switch off to stop the emails: drafted replies still wait on the Reviews page and the board.
Send 4 and 5 Star Replies Without Asking#
- On the Reviews page, turn on Send replies to 4 and 5 star reviews without asking me.
- A window titled Reply Without Asking? explains what changes. Click Turn on.
From then on, replies to new 4 and 5 star reviews are posted on Google without waiting for you. Replies to 1 to 3 star reviews still wait for your OK, always. Turn the switch off at any time; turning it off needs no confirmation.
Ask Every Customer for a Review#
Ask a Customer for a Review shows your listing's review link with a copy button. It opens Google's review form for your business directly.
Send it to every customer, never only to happy ones
Asking only happy customers (review gating) or offering a reward for a review breaks Google's policy and the FTC rule on reviews. SEOmatic gives you one link for everyone and no filter in front of it. Send it after every job.
Let SEOmatic Email the Review Request#
- On the Reviews page, under the review link, find Or Email It for You.
- Paste your customers, one per line:
jane@example.com, orjane@example.com, Janeto greet them by name. - Send. Each customer gets the same short email in your business's name, with the button to your Google review form.
Owners and Admins can send it, on any paid plan or a trial with a card. It uses no credits. Up to 20 customers per send and 100 a day. Nobody is emailed twice within 90 days, and anyone who unsubscribes is never emailed again by your business. The email never asks whether they were happy first and never offers a reward. You can also ask your connected assistant: it shows who would get the email and sends only after you say yes.
- I already replied on Google myself.
- The review moves to Replied after the next sync, with your reply shown, and its draft is no longer offered.
- Can I get a new draft?
- Edit the draft and save your version, or ask your connected assistant "Redraft the reply to Dana's review". The new draft waits for your approval like the first.
- Who can approve replies?
- Members, Admins and the Owner. Viewers can read reviews and copy the review link.
- What do you keep about my customers?
- Only a one-way hash of each address, with the date it was sent and any unsubscribe, so nobody is asked twice within 90 days. Not the address, the name or the message.
- Several locations?
- The page adds them up. A location filter appears next to the rating filter, and each review names its location.
