List the real options for “category in place” with data people cannot get from a map: prices, specialties, checked dates. This free directory page template gives you every block in order, what to put in each one, the title tag, the schema and the rules to publish it safely in 2026.
A directory page lists the businesses or tools in one category and place, like wedding photographers in Lyon or SEO agencies for SaaS. These pages can rank at scale, but only when each one holds data a map or a scraped list does not: prices, specialties, reviews from your users and the date each listing was checked.
The most common mistake is publishing pages with only a name and address per listing, or places with too few listings. Google treats those as thin. Merge small places into a wider area page, and only make filter pages crawlable when they have enough listings and real searches.
The template runs top to bottom in this order. Each block is there for a reason: search, trust, AI answers or conversion.
• Breadcrumb: Two hubs: by category and by place. Each listing page sits under both.
• Hero With Count and Date: How many, from what price, when you checked. That is the promise a map cannot make.
• Answer-First Facts: The facts AI answers and skimmers need, from your own data.
• Filters: Filters for people. Only the filter pages with enough listings and real demand should be crawlable.
• Listing Cards: Each card holds data of its own: price range, specialties, your users' rating, the date checked. Name and address alone is the thin pattern.
• Method: How listings get in and how often you check them. It is the reason to trust you over a scraped list.
• Local Data: Numbers from your own listings. They make each place page unique.
• FAQ: Questions answered from your data, with numbers.
• Nearby Places: Neighbouring places and related categories.
• Supply CTA: The directory grows when businesses add themselves. Check them before they go live.
Publish only when:
• At least 10 real listings with information of their own (not only name and address).
• Every listing was checked in the last 6 months, with the date shown.
• Places with too few listings are merged into a wider area page instead of published thin.
The one thing that matters most: A directory page is only worth indexing when it holds data people cannot get from Google Maps: prices, specialties, checked dates, your users' reviews.
