What Every Number and Card on the AI Visibility Page Means
Updated
AI Visibility has three pages in the sidebar: Overview, Prompts and Citations. Until your first scan finishes, each one shows No reports yet with a Run first scan button. To set up tracking and scans, see track how AI engines talk about your brand.
The Controls at the Top of the Overview#
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Range menu: Last 7 days, Last 28 days or Last 90 days | Picks which scans the tiles and the chart read. It does not change how often scans run. |
| Re-scan now | Starts a scan of your tracked questions. It uses AI credits. |
| Engines | Opens AI engines, where you switch engines on or off. Each switch saves at once and applies from the next scan. |
| Scan a competitor | Runs the same kind of scan on a competitor's domain. It uses your credits or a prepaid one-off scan. |
| Generate report | Makes a shareable certificate of your AI visibility results. It unlocks once SEOmatic has measured a lift that clears the bar described under the trend chart below, with a net gain and at least one question that now names you. |
| Shared links | Lists every certificate link this workspace has shared, with how many times each was viewed, and a Revoke action. Revoking is final: to share again, generate a fresh certificate. |
| Share publicly | Publishes your latest scan as a public page and copies the link. Once it is public, the button reads Copy public link. |
A locale menu appears next to these buttons only when you track more than one country or language. Viewers do not see Re-scan now, Engines, Scan a competitor or the sharing buttons.

Your site isn't showing up in Bing
This box only appears when a check confirmed that Bing has not indexed your site. ChatGPT finds pages through Bing, so this gap hides you from its web search. Verify your site in Bing Webmaster Tools and submit your sitemap. See why AI recommends a competitor.
The Four Tiles#
| Tile | What it means | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Visibility | How often AI engines name your brand, as a percentage. The change, in points, compares only the engines that answered in full in both scans. | For each engine, the share of your tracked questions whose answer names you. The tile is the average across engines that answered in full. |
| Share of voice | Your brand's share of all brand mentions, yours plus your competitors'. | Mentions of you divided by mentions of you and real competitors. Marketplaces, social networks and tools named as sources do not count as competitors, unless your own market is one of those (a tool, for example). |
| Sentiment | The usual tone of answers that name you: Positive, Neutral or Negative. A tie counts as Negative, so a problem is never hidden. | Only answers that name you. With nothing to compare, the tile shows the count of positive, neutral and negative answers instead of a change. |
| Sources cited | How many different web pages the engines linked to in their answers. | Every source in the latest scan's answers, yours and other sites'. |
A change only shows when the two scans can be compared fairly. For Share of voice, Sentiment and Sources cited, both scans must have used exactly the same engines.
The Status Line and the Trend Chart#
Under the tiles, a line reads Tracking, then your market (for example United States, English), when it was Last scanned and when the Next scan is due. Click change to open the scan settings.
Click a tile to chart it. On Share of voice, your competitors appear as thin lines. Dots on the chart mark days your agents did AI search work. Hover a point to see that scan's numbers and the work done.
Above the chart, one line sums up what your agents' AI search work has done so far:
| You see | What it means |
|---|---|
| work landed on 2 prompts - the next scan measures it | A change went live on your site. The next scan will show whether the answers moved. |
| 3 GEO tasks maturing | Your agents' AI search fixes are live and waiting for enough scans to judge them. |
| +12 pts vs untouched prompts (or vs held-out prompts) | The questions your agents worked on gained that many points more than similar questions they did not touch. Hover it for both numbers. |
| results within normal variation so far | The questions your agents worked on moved, but not by more than answers usually swing from scan to scan. SEOmatic does not claim a result yet. |
| 2 newly cited · 1 declined | After the work, 2 questions that never named you now do. 1 lost visibility. |
SEOmatic only claims a lift when it can compare: at least 3 worked questions measured, against at least 5 similar untouched questions, or 3 that were held out at random. Because worked and untouched questions are asked in the same scans, a change in an engine that moves every answer cancels out. This line only shows for your main market.
By Engine and Competitor Share#
- By engine shows how often each engine names you. Hover the name for the count, for example mentioned in 3 of 5 prompts. A ± after the percentage appears when each question was asked more than once in the scan, and shows how much the result can wobble.
- partial: the engine answered under half as many questions as the best-covered engine. It is shown but left out of your Visibility score.
- 2 unnamed: in 2 answers, the engine linked to your site without saying your brand name.
- Could not be reached in this scan: the engine did not answer. Answered without a web search, not scored: the engine answered from memory only, so the answer is not counted. A warning above the list, Not every AI engine answered this scan or Some answers did not use a web search, says the same.
- native: when you track a market other than United States English, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode are measured in that market directly. The other engines are asked to answer for it, on a best-effort basis.
- Competitor share lists the 5 brands named most in your latest scan, you included when you are named, with the rest grouped as Others. Each share is that brand's part of all brand mentions.

Cards That Only Show in Some Cases#
| Card | What it shows | When it shows |
|---|---|---|
| Your products in AI answers | Products from your catalog that answers name, with how many answers and engines named each. | Only when your scan included your product catalog. If none were named, it says so. |
| How the answers talk about each brand | For you (marked you) and each competitor: the split of positive, neutral and negative answers, with n= the number of answers measured. | Hidden until the latest scan has at least 5 measured answers in total. |
| AI crawlers on your site | Which AI bots read your pages in the last 30 days, grouped by purpose, with visits, the change against the 30 days before, when each was last seen and its top page. | Always on the page for your team. Until you connect the SEOmatic AI WordPress plugin or a Cloudflare Worker, it shows the setup steps. See let AI crawlers read your site. |
| Competitor scans | Each competitor domain you scanned: the date, each engine's rate and the overall rate. Scanning while it runs, Failed if it did not finish. | Only after you run Scan a competitor, and never in the client portal. |
| Trust sources engines consult | Sites and platforms, such as G2 or Reddit, that the engines searched while answering your questions, from your last 5 scans. Each is marked cited (an answer linked to it) or never cited. | Shows the sources once the engines' searches have been captured. Until then it asks you to run a fresh scan. |
| Visits from AI assistants | Visits that ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Copilot and Grok sent to your site in the last 28 days, by assistant, with your top landing pages. | Needs Google Analytics. Until then it asks you to connect it in Settings > Integrations. |
Under Trust sources engines consult, the Corroboration playbook lists sources the engines check for your market but never cite, with one action for each, such as getting listed or contributing there. Doors opened since your last scan names sources that were never cited before and are cited now.
Visits from AI assistants is a floor, not a total. Most visits from AI assistants arrive as Direct in Google Analytics. Only visits that identify where they came from are counted here.

The Prompts Page#
AI Visibility > Prompts has one row for each tracked question, from your latest scan. A question you added since then shows next scan until it is scanned.
| Column or filter | What it means |
|---|---|
| Prompt Types bar | How many questions are Organic, Competitor comparison or Brand specific (the question names your brand). |
| Invisible / Weak | Filters. Invisible: no engine names you. Weak: some engines name you and some do not. |
| Visibility | The share of engines whose answer to this question names you. |
| Sentiment | The usual tone of the answers that name you. |
| Top Competitor | The brand named most often in the answers to this question. |
| Volume | Monthly searches for this wording, when SEOmatic has the figure. A dash when it does not. |
| Trend | This question's visibility over recent scans. |
| Difficulty | How many rival brands the answers name: Low is 0 to 4, Medium 5 to 9, High 10 or more. It is not keyword difficulty. |
| Mentions | How many times competitors were named across the answers to this question. |

Click a row to open Prompt details, with what each engine answered. To stop tracking a question, hover its row and click the remove icon (Stop tracking (keeps history)).

The Citations Page#
- Source Types splits every cited page into Corporate, Editorial, Forum, Video, Review, Reference and Social, and counts how many are yours and how many are competitors'. When the scan cited more pages than are stored, it reads, for example, top 30 of 214 sources cited.
- Sources cited instead of you ranks the sites, other than yours, that answers link to most. These are the places to be mentioned.
- Your pages AI search engines cite ranks your own pages that answers link to. These are the pages to keep strong.
- The table lists each cited page with Cited (You, Competitor or Other), Source, Type, Prompts (hover to see which questions it was cited for), Citations, Pos., Change since the previous scan and First seen.

- Why does the Visibility tile show no change after my scan?
- The two scans had no engine in common that answered in full, for example because an engine could not be reached. The next complete scan shows a change again.
- Can my clients see this page?
- In the client portal they see the results without any buttons, and without the setup steps on cards that are not connected yet. See let clients approve changes.
