Let clients approve changes to their own site
Updated
Invite a client#
- At the top of the sidebar, switch to the client's workspace. The invitation only covers that site.
- Click Settings, then the Referrals tab.
- Find Invite a client to {workspace} and type the client's email.
- Pick a role: Approver to let them approve changes, or Report viewer to let them see reports only.
- Click Invite client. They get an email, and the page shows the link too, under Invitation link (also emailed), so you can send it yourself.
Who can invite
Owners and Admins can invite clients, on any paid plan or trial. On Infrastructure, save your agency brand in Settings > White-label first, because the invitation is sent under your agency's name. On other plans, invitations use SEOmatic branding.
What your client does#
- They open the invitation within 14 days and click Accept invitation. New clients choose a password; existing SEOmatic users sign in.
- They see only that site's reports in their client portal. They never see your other clients, your billing or your settings.
- An Approver gets one email on each day that has new proposals for their site, with up to 5 changes per email. Each has a one-click approve link that works for 72 hours. Quiet days send nothing.
- On the approve page they click Approve or Dismiss. They must be signed in as themselves.
What clients can and cannot approve#
- Emails only include proposals that are ready to run once approved.
- Hard-to-undo changes are never sent to clients: redirects, removing pages, hiding pages from Google and similar. You or an Admin approve those from the dashboard.
- Emails stop while your own subscription is not active, for example after a failed payment or when your plan has ended.
- A change your client approves runs exactly like one you approve, and you can undo it the same way.
Want the client to sign off on everything?
Unless the workspace is in Approval mode, changes that can be undone, such as titles, image descriptions, links, page text and new articles, go live on their own, before your client sees them. If every change must wait for the client, set that workspace to Approval mode in Settings > AI Agents. See approval modes.
Remove a client's access#
- On Infrastructure: the owner opens Settings > White-label > Clients to see who has access to each site, resend an invitation, or click Revoke to remove someone.
- On Launch and Scale: there is no screen yet to list or remove clients. Email contact@seomatic.ai with the client's email and site, and a person removes the access, usually within one business day.
- Does a client use one of my seats?
- No. Clients never take a seat, on any plan.
- My client's link expired. What do I do?
- Invite them again from the same place. You can send a new invitation to the same address after 10 minutes.
- Why does a teammate get "You do not have access to manage clients"?
- Only Owners and Admins can invite clients. Members and Viewers see the form but cannot send it.
- Can I approve from email too?
- Yes. See approve tasks from email or Slack.
