Track how ChatGPT, Claude and Google AI Overviews talk about your brand
Updated
How tracking starts#
You do not need to set anything up. The first time a member opens AI Visibility, SEOmatic creates tracking for your site. It reuses the 3 questions from your setup scan, or writes 5 buyer questions for your domain, in a language that fits it (a .fr site gets French questions, for example). Scans then run every week.
If you see Track your AI visibility, SEOmatic could not tell which site to track. Type your domain and click Set up monitoring. If you see No reports yet, click Run first scan.
Read the Overview#
| Number or card | What it means |
|---|---|
| Visibility | How often AI engines mention your brand across your tracked questions, as a percentage. The change is in points versus the previous scan. |
| Share of voice | Your mentions divided by all brand mentions, yours plus your competitors'. |
| Sentiment | The usual tone of answers that mention you: Positive, Neutral or Negative. |
| Sources cited | How many different web pages the engines linked to in their answers. |
| By engine | How often each engine mentions you. partial means not every answer was usable. unnamed means the engine cited your site without naming your brand. |
| Competitor share | The 5 brands AI engines name most in your category. |
| Status line | Tracking your market, when it was last scanned and when the next scan is due. Click change to edit the schedule. |

Click a number to chart it over time. The range buttons Last 7 days, Last 28 days and Last 90 days pick which scans are shown. They do not change how often scans run. With weekly scans, Last 7 days may show No scans in the last 7 days.
Lower on the page: AI crawlers on your site shows which AI bots visit your pages (needs the SEOmatic WordPress plugin or a Cloudflare Worker), and Visits from AI assistants shows visits from ChatGPT and others (needs Google Analytics). If you see Your site isn't showing up in Bing, verify your site in Bing Webmaster Tools and submit your sitemap: ChatGPT finds pages through Bing.
Prompts: the questions you track#
- AI Visibility > Prompts lists each tracked question and whether engines mention you.
- Invisible shows questions where no engine mentions you. Weak shows questions where only some do. Start with these.
- Difficulty counts rival brands in the answers: Low is 1 to 4, Medium 5 to 9, High 10 or more. It is not keyword difficulty.
- Click a question to read each engine's full answer in Prompt details.
- To add one, click Add prompt, type the question (up to 300 characters) and click Add prompt. It is checked from the next scan.
- To stop tracking one, hover the row and click the remove icon. It stops at once, with no confirmation, and its past results stay. To bring it back, add the same text again.
- You cannot edit a question's wording. Remove it and add the new version.
- Your plan sets how many questions you can track: 5 on Launch, 10 on Scale, 25 on Infrastructure. A trial uses the limit of the plan you picked. On Free you cannot add questions. When you reach the limit, the upgrade window says You're tracking the maximum number of prompts on your plan.
AI Visibility > Citations shows the sites AI engines link to: Sources cited instead of you and Your pages AI search engines cite.
Engines and what a scan costs#
| Engine | On by default | About this many credits per question, per scan |
|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT | Yes | 5,800 |
| Claude | Yes | 5,800 |
| Google AI Overviews | Yes | 2,500 |
| Perplexity | No | 5,800 |
| Google AI Mode | No | 2,500 |
| Microsoft Copilot | No | 6,200 |
| Gemini | No | 7,100 |
| Grok | No | 10,800 |
With the 3 default engines, each question costs about 14,100 credits per scan. 5 questions scanned weekly is about 70,500 credits a week. On Infrastructure, the only plan with daily scans, weekly and manual scans ask each question 3 times for a steadier result, which triples that cost. Daily scans ask each question once. Credits are charged when a scan finishes, at its real cost. A failed scan costs nothing.
To change engines, click Engines on the Overview and switch them on or off. Every engine is available on every plan. Keep at least one on. Changes apply from the next scan. If an engine shows Not available yet, it cannot be selected for now.
Run a scan now#
- On the Overview, click Re-scan now.
- You see Scan started. Results appear here when it finishes.
- Wait a few minutes, then reload the page. The page does not refresh on its own.
Re-scan needs credit room
To start a scan, your account needs about 20,000 credits for each engine and question, even though the scan usually costs less. For example, 3 engines and 5 questions need about 300,000 credits free. If you do not have that, you can buy a one-off scan for $19 from the message Or run a one-off scan for $19.
Change the schedule#
- Open Settings > AI Agents and find AI Visibility Scans.
- Pick Weekly, Daily or Manual only. Daily (upgrade) means your plan does not include daily scans. Only Infrastructure does.
- Optional: fill in who is asking, for example a marketing director at a small software company. It frames the questions from the next scan.
- To track another country or language, click Track another locale. It writes 5 questions in that language.
- Changing the schedule restarts it: switching to Weekly pushes the next scan 7 days out.
- Scheduled scans start once a day, so a scan can run up to a day after the Next scan time shown.
- If your credits are used up or your plan is not active, scheduled scans are skipped without a message. Last scanned then stops moving.
- Manual only stops scheduled scans. Use Re-scan now when you want one.
Share your report#
Click Share publicly to publish your latest scan as a public page and copy its link. To take it down, click Make private in the message that appears. After a reload the button says Share publicly again even when the report is public: click it, then use Make private in the message within a few seconds.
- An engine says it could not be reached in this scan.
- That engine did not answer this time, so it is left out of your results and your score. The next scan tries again.
- I ran Scan a competitor. Where are the results?
- The AI Visibility pages do not list competitor scans. If you need the result, email contact@seomatic.ai.
- Who can run scans and add questions?
- Members, admins and the owner. Viewers can read the pages but their clicks are refused.
