Claude Cowork is good at long, boring tasks that span many files: exactly what SEO reporting is. Connect SEOmatic and Cowork reads your Google Search Console data, audits your pages, and writes the result into a doc or spreadsheet in your folder. On paid plans it also stages the fixes, and nothing goes live until you approve.

SEOmatic is a hosted MCP server that Claude Cowork connects to as a connector. Cowork can then call SEOmatic's SEO tools on your own site and combine the results with your local files: a CSV of URLs, a draft in a folder, last month's report.
October 2026
The Claude desktop app on a paid Claude plan with Cowork, and a free SEOmatic account, which you can create during the connect step. No terminal, no API key.
Free to connect. Search Console, audits and page checks have no limit; market data uses 5 free questions a month (plus a one-time 10 when you connect Search Console). Paid plans add agents that stage fixes for your approval. See pricing.
Endpoint, auth, every tool and what it costs: SEOmatic MCP server docs.
Clicks, impressions and position against the previous week, the pages that moved, and what to do about them, saved as a doc you can forward.
Crawl up to 30 pages and get a spreadsheet of duplicate titles, missing descriptions, thin pages, noindex leaks and broken internal links.
Find pages losing clicks over the last 90 days, check what is on them, and write a ranked refresh plan with a reason for each page.
Drop a CSV of URLs in a folder, like a redirect map after a relaunch, and Cowork checks each one against Google's index, 50 at a time.
For freelancers and agencies: a monthly readout per site, with the exact date range on every number, ready to send.
On paid plans, Cowork stages titles, descriptions and content updates in SEOmatic. You approve each one before it touches your site.
Cowork shines when a task has many steps and ends in a file. SEO work is full of those: pull the numbers, check the pages, compare with last time, write it up. With SEOmatic connected, every step runs on your real data.
An example on the Acme Plumbing demo site. You ask Claude Cowork:
“Write a content refresh plan for my service pages and save it in my SEO folder.”
Claude Cowork calls SEOmatic:
gsc_performance: pages, Jul 13 to Oct 10 vs Apr 14 to Jul 12 (90 days each)site_pages: on-page check of 6 service pagesWrote SEO/refresh-plan-october.docxClaude Cowork answers:
Saved refresh-plan-october.docx in your SEO folder. I compared Jul 13 to Oct 10 with Apr 14 to Jul 12 (90 days each). Three pages lead the plan:
Want me to stage the title and description for #1? You approve it in SEOmatic before anything changes.
Also try:
Paste these into a Cowork task once SEOmatic is connected. Give Cowork a folder to work in so it can save the result.
On paid plans, SEOmatic's own agents keep running diagnosis and visibility scans on schedule, so the next Cowork task starts from fresh findings.
Cowork uses custom connectors, so setup is a few clicks in the Claude desktop app. About a minute, with no API key and no Google Cloud project.
# Option 1: custom connector (recommended)
Claude desktop app > Cowork > Customize > Connectors > + Add custom connector
Name: SEOmatic
URL: https://app.seomatic.ai/api/mcp
# Sign in to SEOmatic, approve, pick your site. No API key.
# Option 2: already connected SEOmatic in Claude?
# It shows up in Cowork too. Nothing to add.
# Option 3: plugin (connector + 20 SEO skills)
Customize > Plugins > Add marketplace: Minh42/seomatic-mcp
Then install: seomaticAlready use SEOmatic in Claude on the web? The same connection works in Cowork, so you can skip straight to your first task.
| Route | Best for | How |
|---|---|---|
| Custom connector | Most Cowork users who have not connected SEOmatic yet | Cowork tab, Customize, Connectors, plus button, Add custom connector. URL https://app.seomatic.ai/api/mcp, then sign in. |
| Directory connector | People who already connected SEOmatic in Claude on the web | Nothing to do: connectors you add in Claude also show up in Cowork. See Claude SEO. |
| Plugin | Weekly SEO work: the connector plus 20 SEO skills, including the weekly brief | Customize, Plugins, Add marketplace Minh42/seomatic-mcp, then install seomatic. |
Pick the custom connector, unless SEOmatic is already connected in your Claude account, in which case it is already there. Add the plugin later if you want Cowork to follow SEOmatic's own playbooks for audits and weekly briefs.
Claude Cowork reads Google Search Console through SEOmatic, and the fixes you approve go live in your CMS. Pick your platform for the exact steps:
This page is about Claude Cowork, the agent in the Claude desktop app that works through longer tasks across your files, folders and connected apps, with no terminal.
All three use the same SEOmatic server and workspace, so a connector added in one Claude surface, your free questions and your approvals carry across.
Connecting is free, and so is the SEOmatic account behind it: no card. Free covers the diagnosis with no limit: Search Console reports and insights, site audits of up to 30 pages, live page analysis, and your AI visibility results.
Live market data, like keyword volumes, backlink profiles and competitor domains, uses free questions: 5 a month, plus a one-time 10 bonus questions when you connect Google Search Console. One question covers up to 5 lookups.
Paid plans remove the question limit and add the treatment: agents stage fixes on your site (titles, descriptions, content updates, technical fixes, internal links) and run campaigns and fresh AI visibility scans. Every paid plan starts with a 14-day free trial. See pricing.
Search Console reads and audits are free with no limit, so a weekly brief from your own data costs nothing. Free questions only cover live market data, and one question covers up to 5 lookups in a Cowork task. Paid plans add agents that stage fixes.
Cowork can write files on your computer, but it cannot publish to your site on its own. A staged change is a proposal: it says what will change and why, and nothing touches your site until you approve it. The assistant records your decision, and it is told never to approve anything on its own judgment. Approved fixes start within seconds, the page's previous state is stored, and any applied change can be rolled back. Changes that could take a page out of Google, like a noindex, need an extra explicit confirmation. What Cowork writes into your folders is a draft for you; what reaches your site is only what you approve in SEOmatic.

How do I connect SEOmatic to Claude Cowork?
In the Claude desktop app, open the Cowork tab, then Customize, then Connectors. Click the plus button, add a custom connector named SEOmatic with the URL https://app.seomatic.ai/api/mcp, and sign in to SEOmatic. If you already connected SEOmatic in Claude, it is already available in Cowork.
Can Claude Cowork do SEO?
On its own, Cowork can organize files and write, but it cannot see your rankings or clicks. With SEOmatic connected, it reads your real Google Search Console data, audits your pages, checks your AI visibility, and writes the results into your files. On paid plans it can stage fixes for you to approve.
What is Claude Cowork?
Claude Cowork is Anthropic's agent in the Claude desktop app for longer, multi-step work across your files, folders and connected apps. It runs on the same kind of agent loop as Claude Code, without a terminal.
Do I need a terminal or an API key?
No. You add SEOmatic as a connector in the Claude desktop app and sign in with your SEOmatic account. No command line, no API key and no Google Cloud project.
Can Cowork write a weekly SEO report for me?
Yes. Ask it to write your weekly SEO brief for the last 7 days into a doc in a folder you choose. It pulls clicks, impressions and position from Search Console, compares them with the week before, and names the exact dates. Installing the SEOmatic plugin adds a weekly-brief skill that keeps the format the same each week.
Are the numbers in the report real?
Yes. They come from your own Google Search Console through SEOmatic, and every number carries its date range, like Jul 13 to Oct 10, 90 days. You can open Search Console and check any of them.
Is SEOmatic for Claude Cowork free?
Yes, connecting and the SEOmatic account are free with no card. Search Console reports, site audits and page checks are free with no limit. Live market data (keyword volumes, competitors, backlinks) uses free questions: 5 a month, plus a one-time 10 when you connect Search Console. One question covers up to 5 lookups. Cowork itself needs a paid Claude plan.
Can it change my site without asking?
No. By default every change SEOmatic proposes waits for your approval before it touches your site, and your assistant is told never to approve on its own. Approved changes are stored with the page's previous state, so any edit to an existing page can be rolled back. If you later want low-risk fixes to go ahead on their own, you can turn that on in your autonomy settings; changes to your URLs or indexing, and new content, still wait for you.
Does Cowork publish the fixes, or only write them down?
On paid plans, approved fixes go live on your site through your connected CMS, such as WordPress, Webflow, Shopify or Wix. Cowork stages the fix in SEOmatic, you approve it, and SEOmatic applies it and keeps the previous version for rollback.
I added the connector but Cowork does not use it. What should I check?
Open Customize, then Connectors, and check that SEOmatic is listed and switched on. If it asks you to sign in, finish the SEOmatic sign-in. Then start a new task and mention SEOmatic or your site by name in the request.
Is Claude Cowork the same as Claude or Claude Code?
No. Claude is the chat app, Claude Code is the coding agent for your terminal and editor, and Cowork is the desktop agent for longer tasks across files. All three connect to the same SEOmatic server, so one SEOmatic account works in each.
Same server, same tools, same approval rules. Pick the agent that fits the job.
