Agents read your Search Console data, do the work, and prove what actually moved. You decide what ships.

nanoclaw runs each agent group in its own container and answers in WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack or Discord. Add SEOmatic to the group that handles your website, and that agent can read Google Search Console, check indexing, audit pages and stage fixes for your approval. Your API key stays in the vault, outside the container.

SEOmatic is a hosted MCP server that nanoclaw adds to an agent group with ncl. The OneCLI Agent Vault injects your SEOmatic API key, and the group's agent calls SEOmatic's SEO tools on one workspace.
October 2026
A running nanoclaw install with OneCLI, and a free SEOmatic account with an API key from Settings, AI Agents, API Keys.
Free to connect. Search Console, audits and page checks have no limit; market data uses 5 free questions a month (plus a one-time 10 when you connect Search Console). Paid plans add agents that stage fixes for your approval. See pricing.
Endpoint, auth, every tool and what it costs: SEOmatic MCP server docs.
Anyone in the group can ask how the site is doing and get the same answer, with dates and real numbers.
The agent inspects every URL in your sitemap and lists the ones Google skipped, with the reason for each.
A recurring job that posts last week against the week before, and only the pages that moved.
Before a redesign goes live, an audit of up to 30 pages for noindex tags, broken links, missing titles and slow pages.
Agencies can give each client's group its own SEOmatic key and workspace, kept apart by nanoclaw's containers.
On paid plans, the agent stages titles, descriptions, internal links and technical fixes, then posts the review link.
A nanoclaw agent sits in a group chat and answers whoever asks. For a small business or an agency team, that makes it a shared SEO desk: one place to ask about traffic, indexing and what to fix next.
An example on the Acme Plumbing demo site. You ask nanoclaw:
“@Andy which of our pages has Google not indexed?”
nanoclaw calls SEOmatic:
mcp__seomatic__site_pages: sitemap URLs, 14 pagesmcp__seomatic__gsc_indexing: 14 URLs, inspected Oct 12nanoclaw answers:
Google indexes 12 of the 14 pages in your sitemap. The two it skipped:
/emergency-plumber and /water-heater-repair are indexed and were crawled this week.
I can stage a fix for each: two internal links to /drain-cleaning-cost, and removing the noindex. Removing a noindex needs an extra confirmation from you. Want me to stage them?
Also try:
nanoclaw's design keeps each agent group sealed in its own container, so a prompt in one chat cannot reach another group's files or secrets. SEOmatic fits that model:
app.seomatic.ai. The gateway adds it to requests as they leave, so the agent never holds it.Do not pass the key with --headers on the ncl command: that writes it into the group's config.
Send these in the group, starting with your agent's trigger word (@Andy by default):
nanoclaw runs on the Claude Agent SDK, so SEOmatic's tools appear as mcp__seomatic__<tool>:
gsc_performance and gsc_insights for clicks, impressions, CTR, position, comparisons and striking-distance keywords.gsc_indexing for whether Google indexed a URL, and why not.site_pages for audits of up to 30 pages and a 0 to 100 score for one URL.ai_citations for where AI answers mention you.task_manage stages changes and rolls back applied ones. The full roster and what each tool costs is in the SEO MCP server reference.
About five minutes. You need your agent group's id, which ncl groups list shows.
# 1. Store your SEOmatic key in the OneCLI Agent Vault
onecli secrets create --name SEOmatic --type api_key \
--value "smk_live_..." --host-pattern app.seomatic.ai
# 2. Grant it to the agent group (keep its existing secret ids)
onecli agents set-secrets --id <agent-id> \
--secret-ids <existing-ids>,<seomatic-secret-id>
# 3. Add SEOmatic to the group and restart it
ncl groups config add-mcp-server --id <group-id> \
--name seomatic --url https://app.seomatic.ai/api/mcp
ncl groups restart --id <group-id>Never put the key in --headers on the ncl command; nanoclaw writes headers into the group's config, and the vault exists to keep secrets out of it. If the agent says it has no SEOmatic tools, check the secret's host pattern is app.seomatic.ai and that the group was restarted.
| Route | Best for | How |
|---|---|---|
| MCP server for a group | Most setups: one agent group handles your site and gets SEOmatic's tools | Store the key with onecli secrets create, grant it to the group, then ncl groups config add-mcp-server --id <group-id> --name seomatic --url https://app.seomatic.ai/api/mcp and ncl groups restart --id <group-id>. |
| SEOmatic skill and CLI | Groups that should run SEO checks as shell commands inside their container | Add the skill to your nanoclaw fork with npx skills add Minh42/seomatic-mcp. The skill runs npx -y seomatic, which reads SEOMATIC_API_KEY from the container. |
Pick the MCP server for a group. The vault injects your key in flight, so the container never sees it, and only the groups you choose get SEO tools.
This page is about nanoclaw, the small open-source (MIT) agent built on the Claude Agent SDK. It runs each agent group in its own container, and you manage it with the ncl command.
The names are close, the setups are not. Follow the steps for the agent you run.
Connecting is free, and so is the SEOmatic account behind it: no card. Free covers the diagnosis with no limit: Search Console reports and insights, site audits of up to 30 pages, live page analysis, and your AI visibility results.
Live market data, like keyword volumes, backlink profiles and competitor domains, uses free questions: 5 a month, plus a one-time 10 bonus questions when you connect Google Search Console. One question covers up to 5 lookups.
Paid plans remove the question limit and add the treatment: agents stage fixes on your site (titles, descriptions, content updates, technical fixes, internal links) and run campaigns and fresh AI visibility scans. Every paid plan starts with a 14-day free trial. See pricing.
A group chat can use questions quickly, because every member can ask. For a team group, a paid plan avoids running out mid-month.
In a group chat, anyone can type a request, so nanoclaw's agent is never the one who approves. A staged change is a proposal: it says what will change and why, and nothing touches your site until you approve it. The assistant records your decision, and it is told never to approve anything on its own judgment. Approved fixes start within seconds, the page's previous state is stored, and any applied change can be rolled back. Changes that could take a page out of Google, like a noindex, need an extra explicit confirmation. The agent can stage a fix when asked; the change waits until a signed-in SEOmatic user approves it. Revoke the key in SEOmatic or remove the vault secret to cut access at once.

How do I connect SEOmatic to nanoclaw?
Create an SEOmatic API key, store it in the OneCLI Agent Vault with the host pattern app.seomatic.ai, and grant it to your agent group. Then run ncl groups config add-mcp-server --id <group-id> --name seomatic --url https://app.seomatic.ai/api/mcp and ncl groups restart --id <group-id>. Ask the agent about your site in the group.
Why not pass the API key with --headers?
Headers on the ncl command are saved in the group's config, where the agent can read them. The OneCLI Agent Vault keeps the key outside the container and adds it to requests to app.seomatic.ai as they leave, which is how nanoclaw is meant to handle secrets.
Can I give SEO tools to only one group?
Yes. The ncl command adds SEOmatic to one group by id. Other groups do not get the tools unless you add them too, and each group can use a different SEOmatic key and workspace.
Can anyone in the group approve a fix?
No. Anyone can ask the agent to stage a fix, but approving happens in SEOmatic and needs a signed-in user with access to the workspace. The agent is told never to approve on its own.
Can the agent post SEO updates on a schedule?
Yes. nanoclaw runs recurring jobs you ask for in chat. Ask the agent to post a Search Console recap every Monday, and to skip the post when nothing changed.
Where do the numbers come from?
From your own Google Search Console, connected to SEOmatic with a normal Google sign-in. Answers name the exact date range they cover, for example Oct 3 to Oct 9, 7 days, so you can check them in Search Console.
Is SEOmatic for nanoclaw free?
Yes. Connecting and the SEOmatic account are free, with no card. Search Console reports, site audits and page checks are free with no limit. Live market data (keyword volumes, competitors, backlinks) uses free questions: 5 a month, plus a one-time 10 when you connect Search Console. Paid plans remove the limit and add agents that stage fixes, with a 14-day free trial.
Can it change my site without asking?
No. By default every change SEOmatic proposes waits for your approval before it touches your site, and your assistant is told never to approve on its own. Approved changes are stored with the page's previous state, so any edit to an existing page can be rolled back. If you later want low-risk fixes to go ahead on their own, you can turn that on in your autonomy settings; changes to your URLs or indexing, and new content, still wait for you.
The agent says it has no SEOmatic tools. What is wrong?
Usually one of three things: the group was not restarted after the ncl command, the vault secret has the wrong host pattern, or the secret was not granted to that group. Fix the one that applies and run ncl groups restart --id <group-id>.
Is nanoclaw the same as OpenClaw?
No. nanoclaw is a smaller project built on the Claude Agent SDK, with one container per agent group. OpenClaw is a separate agent with a gateway and its own skill registry. SEOmatic works with both, with different steps.
Same server, same tools, same approval rules. Pick the agent that fits the job.
