Claude Cowork is built for work that runs without you watching, so it suits a recurring check on your WordPress site: compare your posts and pages against Search Console every week, speak up only when something moved, and stage the fix. Nothing reaches WordPress until you approve it, and SEOmatic writes it through the WordPress REST API.
You: Every Monday, check my WordPress site and flag pages that lose clicks.
Claude Cowork: This week's check: from Sep 13 to Oct 10 (28 days), /blog/drain-cleaning-cost/ had 2,640 impressions and 21 clicks at position 8.7 for "drain cleaning cost". That is a low click rate for page one, so the title is the first thing to test: it reads "Drain Cleaning | Acme Plumbing". I staged a new title, "Drain Cleaning Cost: What You Will Pay | Acme Plumbing", to be written to the SEO title in your SEO plugin (Yoast, Rank Math, AIOSEO or SEOPress). It waits for your approval, and I will report the verdict once the change has had time to settle.

In SEOmatic, go to Connections and select WordPress. Enter your domain and click Connect. SEOmatic redirects you to WordPress where you approve the connection with one click. WordPress generates a secure Application Password automatically. Your post types, custom fields and taxonomies are synced instantly. The full walkthrough, with every screen, is on the WordPress integration page.
In the Claude desktop app, open the Cowork tab, then Customize, then Connectors. Click the plus button, add a custom connector named SEOmatic with this URL, and sign in to SEOmatic.

Paste any of these into Claude Cowork. It answers from your data and stages the fix; you approve it before it reaches WordPress.
More that work well in Claude Cowork:
After you approve, SEOmatic writes the change through the WordPress REST API and checks that it is live. Then it measures the result against the page's own baseline and your site's trend: 14 days after a title change, 28 after a content refresh, 90 after a new page. Each change is marked verified, ineffective or regressed, and a low-risk change that loses traffic is rolled back on its own. Ask Claude Cowork "Did my WordPress title changes work?" and it answers from those verdicts.
Titles, meta, body content, slugs and schema, edited in place on pages that are already live.
The agent arrives switched off and starts in approval mode. It acts on its own only where you allow it.
Meta is written to Yoast, Rank Math, All in One SEO or SEOPress, whichever you run, and checked. A field your SEO plugin blocks comes to you as paste-ready text.
WordPress opens more of itself to its API than any other platform we connect to, so agents can reach every SEO field we support: content, slugs, schema, canonicals and noindex.
Every field, limit and safeguard is on the WordPress integration page.

A self-hosted WordPress site (WordPress.org, not WordPress.com), running version 5.6 or later on HTTPS. You need an Administrator or Editor account. If you use security plugins (Wordfence, iThemes) or Cloudflare, ensure they don't block the REST API.

Can Claude Cowork fix SEO on my WordPress site?
Yes, through SEOmatic. Claude Cowork reads your Search Console data, finds the posts and pages losing clicks and stages the fix, which SEOmatic writes to WordPress once you approve. The three setup steps are on this page.
What can Claude Cowork change on WordPress?
SEOmatic works on your posts and pages through the WordPress REST API: titles, descriptions and content first, and more where WordPress allows it. Every field and limit is listed on the WordPress integration page.
How do I know if a WordPress fix worked?
SEOmatic measures every change it ships against the page's own baseline and your site's trend, 14 days after a title change, 28 after a content refresh and 90 after a new page, and marks it verified, ineffective or regressed. Claude Cowork can read those verdicts for you.
What do I need on the Claude Cowork side?
The Claude desktop app on a paid Claude plan with Cowork, and a free SEOmatic account, which you can create during the connect step. No terminal, no API key.
Will Claude Cowork publish to WordPress without asking?
No. By default every change SEOmatic proposes waits for your approval before it touches your site, and your assistant is told never to approve on its own. Approved changes are stored with the page's previous state, so any edit to an existing page can be rolled back. If you later want low-risk fixes to go ahead on their own, you can turn that on in your autonomy settings; changes to your URLs or indexing, and new content, still wait for you.
Is it free?
Connecting is free with no card. Search Console reports, page checks and 30-page site audits are free, as often as you like; live market data uses free questions, 5 a month plus a one-time 10 when you connect Search Console. Staging and publishing fixes is part of paid plans, which start with a 14-day free trial.
