Updated
Invite a teammate#
- In the sidebar, click Settings, then the Team tab.
- Under Team members, click Add member.
- Type their work email in Email Address.
- Pick a Role: Viewer (no seat), Member or Admin. To invite more people at once, click Add another email.
- Click Send invitations. They get an email with an Accept invitation button.

You need a trial or paid plan
Inviting teammates needs a trial or a paid plan. Without one you see Choose a plan before inviting team members. While your subscription is paused, invitations are turned off.
What each role can do#
| Owner | Admin | Member | Viewer | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Uses a seat | Yes | Yes | Yes | No, free |
| See every workspace, task and report | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Approve, dismiss and undo tasks | Yes | Yes | Yes | No |
| Connect a website | Yes | Yes | Yes | No |
| Approve hard-to-undo changes (redirects, removals, hiding pages from Google) | Yes | Yes | No | No |
| Invite, edit and remove teammates | Yes | Yes | No | No |
| Create, rename and delete workspaces | Yes | Yes | No | No |
| Change agent settings and API keys | Yes | Yes | No | No |
| Plans, billing, integrations and white-label | Yes | No | No | No |
| Transfer ownership | Yes | No | No | No |
Every teammate sees every workspace in the account. To give a client access to only their own site, invite them as a client instead: see let clients approve changes.
Seats#
| Plan | Seats, owner included |
|---|---|
| Launch | 3 |
| Scale | 5 |
| Infrastructure | 10 |
- Viewers are unlimited and free.
- On a trial, you get the seats of the plan you picked.
- Pending invitations take a seat until they are accepted or removed, even after the link expires. The heading Team members (X/Y) shows seats used out of your limit.
- When all seats are full, you see All your seats are in use. You can still invite Viewers, remove a stale invitation, or move to a bigger plan.
What your teammate does#
- They click Accept invitation in the email, then Join {organization}.
- If they are new to SEOmatic, an account is created for them and they go straight into your team.
- If they already have an account, they must be signed in with the email you invited.
- The link works for 7 days. A reminder email goes out shortly before it expires.
Change a role, resend or remove#
- Change a role: click Edit on their row, pick the new role and click Update role. It applies at once and they get an email.
- Resend an invitation: click Edit on a Pending row, then Resend invitation email. The older link stops working, so they must use the newest email.
- Remove someone: click Remove, then Remove member. They lose access right away and their seat frees up. To cancel a pending invitation, remove it the same way.
- Nobody can change their own role, and an Admin cannot give a role higher than Admin.
Transfer ownership#
- In Settings > Team, find an active teammate and click Make owner.
- Click Transfer ownership. They now control the team, workspaces and billing. You stay on the team as an Admin.
- The new owner must already be an active teammate, and must not own another SEOmatic account.
- The saved card does not change. The new owner can update it in Settings > Billing Details, and receipt emails now go to them.
- Only the new owner can transfer ownership back.
Fix invitation problems#
| They see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Invalid or expired invitation | The link is older than 7 days or was replaced by a newer email. Click Edit > Resend invitation email and ask them to use the newest email. |
| Sign in as {email} to accept this invitation. | They are signed in with another account. Sign out, then open the link again with the invited email. |
| {organization} has no seats left right now. | Free a seat or move to a bigger plan. Their link works again once a seat is free. |
| An error that the workspace was not found | Your account has no workspace yet. Create one in Settings > Workspaces, then resend the invitation. |
| Never got the email | Ask them to check spam, then resend it. |
- Why can't my teammate see Billing or Plans?
- Those tabs are for the owner only. Links to them open the Account tab instead.
- Where can I see who changed what on the team?
- Owners and Admins see an Activity list at the bottom of Settings > Team: invites, joins, role changes and removals.
- How does a teammate leave a team?
- In Settings > Team, under Teams you are on, they click Leave, then Leave Organization. The owner must transfer ownership before leaving.
