How It Works, Step by Step

You connect SEOmatic once, by asking the Bot to add it as a custom MCP server or from Connect apps, and sign in with your own account.
You give the Bot the template's instructions, the SEO audit skill and the routines you want.
Each routine runs on its schedule, in your timezone, and calls SEOmatic for your Search Console data and analysis.
The Bot compares the results with the previous run and only messages you when something changed.

How to Connect SEOmatic to Grok Bot

Add the MCP server. In chat, ask the Bot to add a custom MCP server named SEOmatic at https://app.seomatic.ai/api/mcp (remote server, OAuth) and confirm the card it shows. Or select Connect apps in the sidebar (on mobile, tap your avatar), search SEOmatic and choose Add.
Sign in. Click Authorize on the connect card, sign in or create a free SEOmatic account in the browser, and approve access for the workspace the Bot should work on.
Check the tools loaded. Type @ in chat to attach SEOmatic, then ask the Bot “What tools do you have from SEOmatic?” and confirm the SEOmatic tools are listed. New tools are available from the next message.

The Bot runs in the cloud, so it only reaches public HTTPS servers, which SEOmatic is. Adding several custom servers? Nothing Changes on Your Site Without Your Approval

A Bot that runs on a schedule is exactly where approval matters most, so it never gets to skip it. A staged change is a proposal: it says what will change and why, and in Approval mode nothing touches your site until you approve it. The assistant records your decision, and it is told never to approve anything on its own judgment. Approved fixes start within seconds, the page's previous state is stored, and any applied change can be rolled back. Why do I have to connect SEOmatic again after installing the template?

Grok Bot templates copy the instructions, skills and routines, but not custom MCP servers or anyone's login. Each installer connects SEOmatic with their own account, which keeps every Bot on its owner's data.

The Bot says it has no SEOmatic tools. What should I check?

Type @ in chat to attach SEOmatic, then ask the Bot which tools it has from it. If none are listed, the sign-in did not finish: reconnect SEOmatic (the custom server from the composer's + menu, MCP Servers, or the plugin under Installed with Reconnect) and finish the sign-in. If you added other custom servers at the same time, remove them, confirm SEOmatic loads, then add them back one at a time.

Will the Bot message me every day?

Only when something changed. The routines compare each run with the last one, and the daily drop watch stays quiet unless a page or query falls enough to matter.

Can it change my site without asking?

No. By default every change SEOmatic proposes waits for your approval before it touches your site, and your assistant is told never to approve on its own. Approved changes are stored with the page's previous state, so any edit to an existing page can be rolled back. If you later want low-risk fixes to go ahead on their own, you can turn that on in your autonomy settings; changes to your URLs or indexing, and new content, still wait for you.

Is Grok Bot the same as Grok Build?
