Agents read your Search Console data, do the work, and prove what actually moved. You decide what ships.
14-Day Trial for $1, credited to your first payment.
A dot keeps working between your conversations, which makes it a good SEO watcher. Connect SEOmatic in ChatGPT, send your dot a short brief, and every Monday it reads your Google Search Console data, checks indexing and AI visibility, and messages you about what moved. When something needs fixing, it asks first, and you approve every change.

SEOmatic is a hosted MCP server that ChatGPT, Codex and dots can all call. Once it is installed as a plugin in ChatGPT, your dot can read your Search Console data, check indexing and AI visibility, and on paid plans stage fixes in SEOmatic for you to approve.
November 2026
A dot, which comes with ChatGPT Pro (Pro 100, 200 or 500, for users over 18, not yet in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland) or Business Premium. Enterprise admins can turn dots on for their workspace. Dots are rolling out gradually, so an eligible account may not see one yet. On Pro, custom MCP servers connect with read and fetch permissions only, so your dot reads and reports and you approve fixes in SEOmatic. A free SEOmatic account, created during the connect step.
Free to connect. Search Console, audits and page checks have no limit; market data uses 5 free questions a month (plus a one-time 10 when you connect Search Console). Paid plans add agents that stage fixes for your approval. See pricing.
Endpoint, auth, every tool and what it costs: SEOmatic MCP server docs.
Every Monday, clicks, impressions and position for the last 7 days against the week before, with only the changes worth your time.
Your dot re-checks your most important pages in Google's index and tells you the moment one drops out, with the reason Google gives.
After a relaunch or a batch of redirects, a daily check that old URLs redirect and new ones get indexed, for as long as you ask.
Reads your latest AI visibility results and tells you when ChatGPT or Google AI Overviews stop naming your brand, and who they name instead.
On paid SEOmatic plans, and a ChatGPT plan with write actions for custom MCP servers (Pro is read-only), your dot can stage a fix in SEOmatic once you say yes. You still approve it in SEOmatic before anything goes live.
Read the brief in ChatGPT, or message your dot from Slack or Teams and get the same answer with the same numbers.
Most SEO problems are found late: a page drops out of Google on a Tuesday and nobody looks until the monthly report. A dot can look every week, or every day, and only bother you when something changed.
An example on the Acme Plumbing demo site. You ask OpenAI dots:
“What changed on my site's search traffic this week?”
OpenAI dots calls SEOmatic:
gsc_performance: Oct 5 to Oct 11 vs Sep 28 to Oct 4 (7 days each)gsc_indexing: 3 pages with new coverage changesget_ai_visibility: latest scan, 24 promptsOpenAI dots answers:
Your weekly brief, Oct 5 to Oct 11 against Sep 28 to Oct 4 (7 days each). Three things changed:
Want me to stage a canonical fix for #2? I will ask you before anything is staged, and you approve it in SEOmatic.
Also try:
Send these to your dot after the brief. Ask for jobs, not one-off answers: that is what a dot is for.
Open Scheduled to review, change or delete the recurring task, or ask your dot to list its schedules. Pause stops your dot's current task but does not cancel the schedule.
Create your dot in the ChatGPT desktop app, in ChatGPT on a desktop browser or in the latest ChatGPT mobile app (mobile web is not supported), then connect SEOmatic on the web and send the brief. About two minutes, with no API key and no Google Cloud project.
# 1. Connect SEOmatic in ChatGPT (your dot shares it)
# ChatGPT on the web: Plugins > + > Add custom MCP server
# Name: SEOmatic
# Server URL: https://app.seomatic.ai/api/mcp
# Auth: OAuth
# Tick "I understand and want to continue" > Create as a plugin
# Plugins > Personal > SEOmatic > + to install, then sign in
# or, from the plugin directory: search SEOmatic, install, sign in
# 2. Custom rules for your dot (Settings > Personalization > Custom rules > Add)
# Read SEOmatic reports -> Take action without asking
# Stage a fix in SEOmatic -> Ask before taking action
# Approve a fix in SEOmatic -> never: you approve in SEOmatic
# 3. Message your dot:
You look after my site's search traffic through SEOmatic.
- First, list my SEOmatic workspaces and confirm which site is mine.
- Every Monday at 9am in my time zone, with no end date, run my SEOmatic weekly brief for the last 7 days and tell me only what changed: pages that gained or lost clicks, new indexing problems, AI answers that stopped naming my brand. Confirm the schedule you saved.
- Quote the exact date range and the numbers SEOmatic gives you. Never estimate.
- If a fix looks worth it, ask me before you stage it in SEOmatic.
- Never approve anything in SEOmatic yourself. I approve every change.Using ChatGPT without a dot? The same plugin works in any chat: see ChatGPT SEO. In a Business Premium or Enterprise workspace, workspace permissions decide who can add a custom MCP server, so ask your admin or owner if you do not see Add custom MCP server. On Enterprise, an admin also turns dots on first.
| Route | Best for | How |
|---|---|---|
| Custom MCP plugin | Business Premium and Enterprise; on Pro the plugin is read-only | In ChatGPT on the web: Plugins, the + button, Add custom MCP server, Server URL https://app.seomatic.ai/api/mcp, OAuth, tick I understand and want to continue, Create as a plugin, then install it from your personal plugins and sign in. Full steps on ChatGPT SEO. |
| Plugin directory | One-click connect, where SEOmatic shows in your ChatGPT directory | Or install SEOmatic from ChatGPT's plugin directory: open Plugins, search SEOmatic, connect and sign in. |
| Already connected in ChatGPT | People who already installed SEOmatic as a ChatGPT plugin | Nothing to add. Send your dot the brief and ask it to list your SEOmatic workspaces. A Codex CLI config does not count: your dot uses ChatGPT plugins. |
Install once in ChatGPT, then brief the dot. Your ChatGPT plugin permissions apply to your dot too, so there is one sign-in and no API key in any chat.
This page is about dots, the always-on agents OpenAI added to ChatGPT on September 29, 2026. A dot has its own cloud computer, runs scheduled tasks and keeps working between your conversations.
Other always-on agents work the same way with SEOmatic: Meta Muse, Grok Bot and Cue. Pick the one you already talk to every day.
Connecting is free, and so is the SEOmatic account behind it: no card. Free covers the diagnosis with no limit: Search Console reports and insights, site audits of up to 30 pages, live page analysis, and your AI visibility results.
Live market data, like keyword volumes, backlink profiles and competitor domains, uses free questions: 5 a month, plus a one-time 10 bonus questions when you connect Google Search Console. One question covers up to 5 lookups.
Paid plans remove the question limit and add the treatment: agents stage fixes on your site (titles, descriptions, content updates, technical fixes, internal links) and run campaigns and fresh AI visibility scans. Every paid plan starts with a 14-Day Trial for $1, credited to your first payment. See pricing.
A dot that checks every day spends free questions fast: each tool call counts as one. On the free plan, start with the Monday brief. Daily index watch and staged fixes are what paid plans are for. The dot itself comes with your ChatGPT Pro or Business Premium plan.
A dot works on its own between conversations, so the rules matter. We suggest three:
A staged change is a proposal: it says what will change and why, and in Approval mode nothing touches your site until you approve it. The assistant records your decision, and it is told never to approve anything on its own judgment. Approved fixes start within seconds, the page's previous state is stored, and any applied change can be rolled back. Changes that could take a page out of Google, like a noindex, need an extra explicit confirmation. A dot's own background research uses read-only tools, so it cannot stage anything during that research.
Want answers on request instead of on a schedule? See ChatGPT SEO. Fixing SEO in code? See Codex SEO. Other always-on agents: Grok Bot, Meta Muse and Cue. Learn what the weekly brief reads: the Google Search Console integration, page indexing and AI visibility tracking. All assistants: AI SEO agents in every assistant. How do I connect SEOmatic to OpenAI dots?
Add SEOmatic in ChatGPT on the web as a custom MCP plugin with the Server URL https://app.seomatic.ai/api/mcp, install it from your personal plugins (or install it from the plugin directory), and sign in with your SEOmatic account. Your dot can use supported plugins installed and enabled for your account. Then send your dot a brief that says what to watch, how often, and to ask before staging anything.
What are OpenAI dots?
Dots are always-on agents inside ChatGPT, launched by OpenAI on September 29, 2026. Each dot has its own cloud computer and browser, runs scheduled tasks, and keeps working between your conversations. You can message it in ChatGPT, Slack or Teams.
Which ChatGPT plans include a dot?
Dots come with ChatGPT Pro (Pro 100, 200 or 500, for users over 18) and Business Premium. Pro users in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland cannot use dots yet. Enterprise workspaces can turn them on through an admin; OpenAI's docs do not list Edu, Free, Go or Plus. Dots are rolling out gradually, so you may not see yours right away.
Will my dot change my site on its own?
No. Set staging in SEOmatic to Ask before taking action in your dot's custom rules, and the dot asks you first. Even then, a staged fix is only a proposal: it goes live only after you approve it in SEOmatic, and SEOmatic tells every assistant never to approve on its own.
Can it change my site without asking?
No. By default every change SEOmatic proposes waits for your approval before it touches your site, and your assistant is told never to approve on its own. Approved changes are stored with the page's previous state, so any edit to an existing page can be rolled back. If you later want low-risk fixes to go ahead on their own, you can turn that on in your autonomy settings; changes to your URLs or indexing, and new content, still wait for you.
What should I put in my dot's brief?
Three things: what to watch (clicks, indexing, AI answers), how often (every Monday at 9am is a good start), and what needs your OK (staging any fix). Ask it to quote exact date ranges and never estimate. The brief on this page covers all three; copy it and change the day if you like.
Are the numbers in the brief real?
Yes. They come from your own Google Search Console through SEOmatic, and each brief names its dates, like Oct 5 to Oct 11 against Sep 28 to Oct 4, 7 days each. You can check any number in Search Console.
Is it free?
Connecting and the SEOmatic account are free with no card. Search Console reports, site audits and page checks are free with no limit. Live market data (keyword volumes, competitors, backlinks) uses free questions: 5 a month, plus a one-time 10 when you connect Search Console. A weekly brief from Search Console stays free; daily market-data checks and staged fixes need a paid SEOmatic plan. The dot itself comes with ChatGPT Pro or Business Premium.
My dot says it cannot find SEOmatic. What should I check?
Open Plugins in ChatGPT and check that SEOmatic is installed, enabled and signed in: creating a custom MCP plugin is not enough until you install it. Then ask your dot to list your SEOmatic workspaces. On Pro the plugin is read-only, which is expected. In a Business Premium or Enterprise workspace, check that your admin allows the plugin for you. If it still cannot, use SEOmatic in a regular ChatGPT chat; OpenAI says dots use supported plugins and does not list which custom MCP plugins count.
How do dots compare to Muse, Grok Bot and Cue?
All four are always-on agents, and all four can use SEOmatic. Pick the one you already talk to. Dots live in ChatGPT, Slack and Teams. Meta Muse lives in its app and WhatsApp. Grok Bot is xAI's always-on agent. Cue is Manus's personal-agent app.
Is a dot the same as ChatGPT or Codex?
No. ChatGPT answers when you ask, Codex is OpenAI's coding agent, and a dot works on its own between conversations. ChatGPT and Codex share one plugin directory, a dot uses the plugins installed for your account, and all three reach the same SEOmatic account.
Same server, same tools, same approval rules. Pick the agent that fits the job.
