Inside the Competitor Gap Analysis Skill
The Short Answer
The SEOmatic competitor gap skill teaches an AI agent to compare your site with the domains that actually rank for your keywords. It sizes each competitor's organic visibility, lists the keywords where they are in the top 10 and you are absent or past 20, checks your own Search Console so it does not miss phrasings you already rank for, reads their ranking pages, and compares backlink profiles to tell content gaps from authority gaps. SEOmatic can stage the work, and nothing goes live until you click approve.
What You Get
A ranked list of topics: the competitor ranking, their page type, where your site stands, the effort and why. Topics your business cannot credibly own come last or are left out.

By default, nothing changes on your site until you approve it. A fix is staged as a proposal that says what will change and why. Approved fixes run within seconds, the page's previous state is stored, and any edit to an existing page can be rolled back. A rollback refuses to overwrite edits someone made since. Changes that could take a page out of Google, like a noindex, need an extra confirmation.

No. It matches the search intent their page answers and finds what you can do better, not their wording.
What does the competitor data cost?
Competitor, keyword and backlink lookups use live market data, so they use free questions or AI credits. Your own Search Console data is free.
Is the Competitor Gap Analysis skill free?
The skill is free and open source (MIT). Connecting is free with no card. Search Console reports, page checks and 30-page site audits are free, as often as you like. Live market data (keyword volumes, competitors, backlinks) uses free questions: 5 a month, plus a one-time 10 when you connect Search Console, and one question covers up to 5 lookups. Staging and publishing fixes is part of paid plans, which start with a 14-day trial.
