Inside the Content Refresh Skill
The Short Answer
The SEOmatic content refresh skill teaches an AI agent to find pages that lost at least a quarter of their Search Console clicks over 90 days but still have impressions, remove the ones that dip every year, and work out what slipped: queries that lost position and new queries the page barely answers. It compares the page with today's results and writes a refresh brief. SEOmatic can stage the refresh in your CMS, and nothing goes live until you click approve.
What You Get
A refresh brief per page: what lost, with queries, positions and dates; what to add; what to update; what to cut; and the expected outcome as a range. Pages with nothing worth saving are named too.

By default, nothing changes on your site until you approve it. A fix is staged as a proposal that says what will change and why. Approved fixes run within seconds, the page's previous state is stored, and any edit to an existing page can be rolled back. A rollback refuses to overwrite edits someone made since. Changes that could take a page out of Google, like a noindex, need an extra confirmation.

Why refresh instead of writing new pages?
A page that already ranked has links, history and proof it can rank. Bringing it up to date is usually faster than ranking a new page from zero.
Does it change pages that are still growing?
No. The skill only works on pages that lost clicks, and only after ruling out a seasonal dip.
Is the Content Refresh skill free?
The skill is free and open source (MIT). Connecting is free with no card. Search Console reports, page checks and 30-page site audits are free, as often as you like. Live market data (keyword volumes, competitors, backlinks) uses free questions: 5 a month, plus a one-time 10 when you connect Search Console, and one question covers up to 5 lookups.
