Inside the CTR Optimization Skill
The Short Answer
The SEOmatic CTR optimization skill teaches an AI agent to find pages in positions 1 to 10, with at least 50 impressions, that earn less than half the clicks their position should earn on your own site. It reads the queries each page shows for, checks the search results for AI overviews, featured snippets or ads that take the click, then proposes a new title and meta description written for those queries. On a paid plan SEOmatic stages the change in your CMS, and nothing goes live until you click approve.
What You Get
For each page: the current and proposed title, the current and proposed meta description, the queries it is written for, and the expected gain as a range. Pages where a title cannot help, because a search feature takes the click, are named with what to do instead.

By default, nothing changes on your site until you approve it. A fix is staged as a proposal that says what will change and why. Approved fixes run within seconds, the page's previous state is stored, and any edit to an existing page can be rolled back. A rollback refuses to overwrite edits someone made since. Changes that could take a page out of Google, like a noindex, need an extra confirmation.

Why not rewrite every title?
Pages below position 10 have a ranking problem, not a snippet problem, so a new title changes little. The skill only rewrites titles on page-1 results that under-earn their position.
Will the new title over-promise?
No. The skill keeps the page's real promise. A title that wins the click but disappoints the visitor loses it again.
Is the CTR Optimization skill free?
The skill is free and open source (MIT). Connecting is free with no card. Search Console reports, page checks and 30-page site audits are free, as often as you like. Live market data (keyword volumes, competitors, backlinks) uses free questions: 5 a month, plus a one-time 10 when you connect Search Console, and one question covers up to 5 lookups.
