Inside the Keyword Cannibalization Skill
The Short Answer
The SEOmatic keyword cannibalization skill teaches an AI agent to find queries where several of your own pages earn impressions in Google, using your real Search Console data. It keeps only the conflicts that cost clicks: both pages stuck between positions 5 and 30, the ranking page flipping week to week, or the wrong page winning a buying query. It then picks the winner and one of four fixes: merge, retarget, redirect or internal links. SEOmatic stages the fix, and nothing goes live until you click approve; a redirect needs an extra confirmation.
What You Get
Five real conflicts, not fifty rows. Each one shows the query, both pages with their own numbers, which page should win and why, and the fix.

By default, nothing changes on your site until you approve it. A fix is staged as a proposal that says what will change and why. Approved fixes run within seconds, the page's previous state is stored, and any edit to an existing page can be rolled back. A rollback refuses to overwrite edits someone made since. Changes that could take a page out of Google, like a noindex, need an extra confirmation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is every overlap a problem?
No. A homepage and a product page both showing for your brand name is normal. The skill drops brand queries and cases where one page already gets most of the clicks.
Will it redirect my pages?
Only if you name that URL and agree. A redirect removes a page from Google, so SEOmatic asks for an extra confirmation on top of the normal approval.
Is the Keyword Cannibalization skill free?
The skill is free and open source (MIT). Connecting is free with no card. Search Console reports, page checks and 30-page site audits are free, as often as you like. Live market data (keyword volumes, competitors, backlinks) uses free questions: 5 a month, plus a one-time 10 when you connect Search Console, and one question covers up to 5 lookups. Staging and publishing fixes is part of paid plans, which start with a 14-day trial.
