Requirements
Google Chrome 116 or later and a free SEOmatic account with your site connected. You grant access to your own domain when you turn it on; it never takes access to all sites.

How It Works
Step 1: Add the extension to Chrome.
Step 2: Connect it to your free SEOmatic workspace.
Step 3: Grant it access to your own domain. Chrome asks you to approve that one site specifically, not all websites.
Step 4: Turn it on. From then on, whenever this browser lands on your site from an AI assistant, it records which assistant and which page, and the running total appears in your workspace. Install it on your team's browsers to count their visits too.
Narrow on Purpose
Your Domain Only
The detector is registered only on the site you connect and approve. It never runs on any other website.
Host and Path, Nothing Else
For an AI arrival it sends the assistant's host and the page path. No query strings, no searches, no other sites.
Non-AI Visits Stay Put
Arrivals that did not come from an AI assistant are filtered out in the browser and never sent.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this track all of my site's visitors?
No, and it is worth being clear about that. It runs in the browsers where it is installed, so it counts the AI-assistant arrivals made from those browsers: yours and your team's. It is a quick way to see what an assistant sends when you click through from it. For your whole audience, SEOmatic's AI referral report reads your own GA4, and it says plainly that those numbers are a floor, because the same stripped referrers hide many AI visits from analytics.
Will it catch visits my analytics files as Direct?
No. When an assistant strips the referrer, the browser does not know where the visit came from either, so the extension cannot count it. It counts the arrivals where the assistant is passed along as the referrer.
Does it need access to every website?
No. It asks Chrome for access to your own connected domain only, and you approve it. The broad permission you may see in its manifest is optional, and the extension only ever requests it narrowed to your own site.
Which assistants does it recognise?
ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Claude, Grok, Meta AI, DeepSeek, Kimi, Le Chat and You.com. The list lives inside the extension, so a new assistant arrives with an update. Bing and DuckDuckGo are not counted, because an arrival from their AI answers cannot be told apart from an ordinary search.
