SEO checks by CMS
Enter your site. In a few seconds you see every post type the REST API shows, the ones your sitemap proves exist but the API hides, and the one line that exposes a hidden type. Nothing on your site changes.
WordPress lists a site's post types at /wp-json/wp/v2/types. Only types registered with show_in_rest appear there. Every tool that publishes through the API, SEOmatic, Zapier, Make and n8n among them, reads that list. A post type a plugin or theme registered without the flag is invisible to all of them, and the picker in each tool just does not show it.
First, the check reads /wp-json/wp/v2/types on your site and lists every content type it finds, plumbing like menus and templates left out. Second, it reads your sitemap index. Yoast, Rank Math and WordPress itself publish one sitemap per public post type, so a type with a sitemap and no API entry is hidden from the API. Third, for each hidden type it writes the fix with the slug filled in.
The fix is a filter on register_post_type_args that sets show_in_rest to true for that one type. It goes in your theme's functions.php, in a code-snippets plugin, or in the plugin that registers the type if it is yours. It does not change how the type looks or behaves on your site. After adding it, run the check again: the type moves from hidden to visible.
Once the type is visible, SEOmatic can create pages in it the same way it does in Pages: title, slug, body when the type has an editor, featured image, parent, template, author, SEO title and description, and any ACF fields attached to the type. Pick the type under Custom on the Configure CMS step of a page set.
Setting up a post type with an Elementor or Divi template and ACF fields is in the help center: WordPress templates and custom fields.
SEOmatic gives SEO agencies, marketing teams, and founders autonomous agents that read your Search Console data, decide what will move rankings, and make the changes in your CMS. Rank on Google and AI Search, with proof.
