Design a programmatic SEO template from search intent
Short answer: Start a programmatic template from what the searcher wants to do next, not from a layout. Use 5 blocks: a direct answer from the row's data, the data itself, decision help, real questions, and one next step. Keep more than half the words data-driven.
Most templates start from a nice layout. Start from the search instead. Ask: what does someone typing this want to do in the next minute?
Example: pattern, what they want, first block
"{a} vs {b}": pick one. First block: a one-line verdict, "pick A if..., pick B if...".
"{app} {tool} integration": know if it works. First block: what syncs, which way, and setup time.
"{service} in {city}": know if you serve them, when, and for how much. First block: yes or no, next slot, price range from real jobs.
"{product} price": a number. First block: the number, then what changes it.
The 5 blocks I use
- Direct answer. One or two sentences that answer the search with this row's data.
- The data. A table or list of the row's facts.
- Decision help. Who this is right for, and who it is not for.
- Questions. 3 to 5 real questions, taken from Search Console searches that start with how, can or does.
- Next step. One action that fits the search.
Then mark each sentence {data} if it changes per row, or {static} if it is the same everywhere. If more than half the words are static, page 37 will read like page 36.
Your 10-minute task: Write your template in plain text
- Take your pattern from lesson 4.
- Write the 5 blocks for it, in plain text, with {field} where data goes.
- Mark each sentence {data} or {static}.
- Rewrite static sentences until data words are more than half. Keep it for lesson 7.
