How SEOmatic's MCP Works on HubSpot
The Short Answer
HubSpot runs a remote MCP server at mcp.hubspot.com for CRM data (contacts, companies, deals, tickets) and a separate developer MCP for building apps and CMS assets locally. SEOmatic's MCP server (https://app.seomatic.ai/api/mcp) does a different job on HubSpot: SEO. It reads your Google Search Console data, finds the blog posts and site pages that are losing clicks or not indexed, and stages the fix through the HubSpot connection. By default nothing goes live until you approve it, every change can be rolled back, and each one is measured afterwards and marked verified, ineffective or regressed. You can run both servers in the same agent.
Which HubSpot MCP Do You Need?
| SEOmatic MCP | HubSpot MCP (remote CRM, developer) | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is for | SEO: find what costs clicks, fix it, measure it | Read and write CRM records; build CMS assets locally |
| Your Search Console data | Yes, free with no limit | No |
| Picks what to change from search data | Yes | No |
| Rollback | Yes, with a check for edits made since | Not built in |
| Measures whether a change worked | Yes | No |
What SEOmatic Can Change on HubSpot
Agents work through HubSpot's own content API, and nothing is written until you approve it. Approved edits to a blog post update the live post directly; on landing and site pages the change goes through the page's draft and is pushed live, and a page with unpublished edits from your team is left alone.
- Writes And Rewrites Posts: Full blog posts with titles, HTML content, excerpts, featured images, tags and author, plus rewrites of what is already live.
- Your Team's Drafts Stay Theirs: On a landing or site page with unpublished edits from your team, the agent leaves the page alone rather than publishing their draft along with its change.
- Nothing Applies Without You: The agent arrives switched off and starts in approval mode. It acts on its own only where you allow it.
- A Diff For Every Change: SEOmatic reads the real post back from HubSpot, so the before and after you approve is the live content, not a guess.
- One Click Revert: Any change rolls back to its previous value. Low-risk edits that cost you traffic revert on their own.
- Never A False Success: Every change is read back from HubSpot before it counts as applied. If pushing a page live fails, its draft is reset so nothing is left half done.
Every field, limit and safeguard is on the HubSpot CMS integration page.
Connect HubSpot and Your Agent
1. Connect HubSpot to SEOmatic. In SEOmatic, go to Connections, select HubSpot and click Connect with HubSpot. Approve access on HubSpot's own consent page. SEOmatic loads your blogs and selects one for you if you only have one. (Already have a private app with the content scope? You can paste its token instead. HubSpot is switching off the creation of new legacy private apps.)
2. Connect SEOmatic to your agent. Add https://app.seomatic.ai/api/mcp as a remote MCP server (Streamable HTTP) in your agent, then sign in to SEOmatic in the browser. Sign-in is OAuth 2.1 with PKCE and dynamic client registration, so there is no key to paste. Scripts and headless agents can send a workspace API key as a Bearer token instead.
https://app.seomatic.ai/api/mcpWhat to Ask About Your HubSpot Site
- "Which HubSpot blog posts lost the most clicks this month?"
- "Stage new meta descriptions for posts that get seen but skipped."
- "Find HubSpot pages Google has not indexed."
- "Which landing pages rank 5 to 15 for a query worth more traffic?"
- "Which blog posts compete for the same query?"

From Answer to Fix
By default, nothing changes on your site until you approve it. A fix is staged as a proposal that says what will change and why. Approved fixes run within seconds, the page's previous state is stored, and any edit to an existing page can be rolled back. A rollback refuses to overwrite edits someone made since. Changes that could take a page out of Google, like a noindex, need an extra confirmation.
Every shipped change is measured against its own baseline and the site's trend: after 14 days for a title, 28 for a content refresh, 42 for striking-distance and cannibalization work, 90 for a new page. It is marked verified only when the gain over the site's own trend is statistically clear and worth at least 5 more clicks; otherwise it is ineffective, or regressed when it falls more than 15%. Low-risk changes that lose traffic roll back on their own.
What Is Free
Connecting is free with no card. Search Console reports, page checks and 30-page site audits are free, as often as you like. Live market data (keyword volumes, competitors, backlinks) uses free questions: 5 a month, plus a one-time 10 when you connect Search Console, and one question covers up to 5 lookups. Staging and publishing fixes is part of paid plans, which start with a 14-day trial.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there an official HubSpot MCP server?
Yes. HubSpot runs a remote MCP server at mcp.hubspot.com for CRM data (contacts, companies, deals, tickets) and a separate developer MCP for building apps and CMS assets locally.
How is SEOmatic's MCP different on HubSpot?
It is built for SEO: it reads your Search Console data, stages fixes to your HubSpot blog posts and site pages for your approval, and measures whether each change worked. HubSpot's own MCP options are used to read and write CRM records; build CMS assets locally.
What do I need to connect HubSpot?
A HubSpot account with Content Hub (formerly CMS Hub) and permission to approve apps for it. Connecting happens on HubSpot's own consent page; an existing private app with the content scope also works.
Will SEOmatic publish to HubSpot without asking?
No. By default every change waits for your approval, your agent is told never to approve on its own, and any applied change can be rolled back.
